وَالْمُرْسَلَاتِ عُرْفًا ١

By the winds (or angels or the Messengers of Allah) sent forth one after another.

وَالْمُرْسَلَاتِ عُرْفًا

And the winds (or angels or the Messengers of Allah) sent forth one after another

فَالْعَاصِفَاتِ عَصْفًا ٢

And by the winds that blow violently,

فَالْعَاصِفَاتِ

And by the winds

عَصْفًا

that blow violently

وَالنَّاشِرَاتِ نَشْرًا ٣

And by the winds that scatter clouds and rain;

وَالنَّاشِرَاتِ

And by the winds

نَشْرًا

that scatter clouds and rain

فَالْفَارِقَاتِ فَرْقًا ٤

And by the Verses (of the Quran) that separate the right from the wrong.

فَالْفَارِقَاتِ

And by the Verses

فَرْقًا

that separate the right from the wrong

فَالْمُلْقِيَاتِ ذِكْرًا ٥

And by the angels that bring the revelations to the Messengers,

فَالْمُلْقِيَاتِ

And by the angels that bring

ذِكْرًا

the revelations to the Messengers

عُذْرًا أَوْ نُذْرًا ٦

To cut off all excuses or to warn;

عُذْرًا

To cut off all excuses

أَوْ نُذْرًا

or to warn

إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَاقِعٌ ٧

Surely, what you are promised must come to pass.

إِنَّمَا

Surely,

تُوعَدُونَ

what you are promised

لَوَاقِعٌ

must come to pass.

فَإِذَا النُّجُومُ طُمِسَتْ ٨

Then when the stars lose their lights;

فَإِذَا

Then when

النُّجُومُ

the stars

طُمِسَتْ

lose their lights

وَإِذَا السَّمَاءُ فُرِجَتْ ٩

And when the heaven is cleft asunder;

وَإِذَا

And when

السَّمَاءُ

the heaven

فُرِجَتْ

is cleft asunder

وَإِذَا الْجِبَالُ نُسِفَتْ ١٠

And when the mountains are blown away;

وَإِذَا

And when

الْجِبَالُ

the mountains

نُسِفَتْ

are blown away

وَإِذَا الرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتْ ١١

And when the Messengers are gathered to their time appointed;

وَإِذَا الرُّسُلُ

And when the Messengers

أُقِّتَتْ

are gathered to their time appointed

لِأَيِّ يَوْمٍ أُجِّلَتْ ١٢

For what Day are these signs postponed?

لِأَيِّ يَوْمٍ

For what Day

أُجِّلَتْ

are these signs postponed?

لِيَوْمِ الْفَصْلِ ١٣

For the Day of sorting out (the men of Paradise from the men destined for Hell).

لِيَوْمِ الْفَصْلِ

For the Day of sorting out

the sorting out

the men of Paradise

the men destined for Hell

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا يَوْمُ الْفَصْلِ ١٤

And what will explain to you what is the Day of sorting out?

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ

And what will explain to you

مَا يَوْمُ الْفَصْلِ

what is the Day of sorting out?

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ١٥

Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ

Woe that Day

لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)
