الرَّحْمَٰنُ ١

The Most Beneficent (Allah)!

الرَّحْمَٰنُ

the Most Beneficent

the Most Merciful

the Beneficent (Allah)

عَلَّمَ الْقُرْآنَ ٢

Has taught (you mankind) the Quran (by His Mercy).

عَلَّمَ

Has taught

الْقُرْآنَ

the Quran

Has taught the Quran (by His Mercy)

خَلَقَ الْإِنسَانَ ٣

He created man.

خَلَقَ

He created

الْإِنسَانَ

man

عَلَّمَهُ الْبَيَانَ ٤

He taught him eloquent speech.

عَلَّمَهُ

He taught him

الْبَيَانَ

eloquent speech

الشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ بِحُسْبَانٍ ٥

The sun and the moon run on their fixed courses (exactly) calculated with measured out stages for each (for reckoning, etc.).

الشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ

The sun and the moon

بِحُسْبَانٍ

exactly calculated

with measured out stages

for each

(for reckoning, etc.)

وَالنَّجْمُ وَالشَّجَرُ يَسْجُدَانِ ٦

And the herbs (or stars) and the trees both prostrate.

وَالنَّجْمُ

And the stars

وَالشَّجَرُ

and the trees

يَسْجُدَانِ

both prostrate

وَالسَّمَاءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ الْمِيزَانَ ٧

And the heaven He has raised high, and He has set up the Balance.

وَالسَّمَاءَ رَفَعَهَا

And the heaven He has raised high

وَوَضَعَ الْمِيزَانَ

and He has set up the Balance

أَلَّا تَطْغَوْا فِي الْمِيزَانِ ٨

In order that you may not transgress (due) balance.

أَلَّا تَطْغَوْا

In order that you may not transgress

فِي الْمِيزَانِ

(due) balance

وَأَقِيمُوا الْوَزْنَ بِالْقِسْطِ وَلَا تُخْسِرُوا الْمِيزَانَ ٩

And observe the weight with equity and do not make the balance deficient.

وَأَقِيمُوا الْوَزْنَ

And observe the weight

بِالْقِسْطِ

with equity

وَلَا تُخْسِرُوا الْمِيزَانَ

and do not make the balance deficient

وَالْأَرْضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلْأَنَامِ ١٠

And the earth He has put for the creatures.

وَالْأَرْضَ

And the earth

وَضَعَهَا

He has put it

لِلْأَنَامِ

for the creatures

فِيهَا فَاكِهَةٌ وَالنَّخْلُ ذَاتُ الْأَكْمَامِ ١١

Therein are fruits, date-palms producing sheathed fruit-stalks (enclosing dates).

فِيهَا فَاكِهَةٌ

Therein are fruits

وَالنَّخْلُ ذَاتُ الْأَكْمَامِ

and date-palms producing sheathed fruit-stalks (enclosing dates)

وَالْحَبُّ ذُو الْعَصْفِ وَالرَّيْحَانُ ١٢

And also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-scented plants.

وَالْحَبُّ

And also corn

ذُو الْعَصْفِ

with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder

وَالرَّيْحَانُ

and sweet-scented plants

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ١٣

Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا

Then which of the Blessings of your Lord

تُكَذِّبَانِ

will you both (jinns and men) deny?

خَلَقَ الْإِنسَانَ مِن صَلْصَالٍ كَالْفَخَّارِ ١٤

He created man (Adam) from sounding clay like the clay of pottery.

خَلَقَ الْإِنسَانَ

He created man (Adam)

مِن صَلْصَالٍ

from sounding clay

كَالْفَخَّارِ

like the clay of pottery

وَخَلَقَ الْجَانَّ مِن مَّارِجٍ مِّن نَّارٍ ١٥

And the jinns did He create from a smokeless flame of fire.

وَخَلَقَ الْجَانَّ

And the jinns did He create

مِن مَّارِجٍ مِّن نَّارٍ

from a smokeless flame of fire

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ١٦

Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ

Then which of the Blessings

رَبِّكُمَا

of your Lord

تُكَذِّبَانِ

will you both (jinns and men) deny?
