تَبَارَكَ الَّذِي نَزَّلَ الْفُرْقَانَ عَلَىٰ عَبْدِهِ لِيَكُونَ لِلْعَالَمِينَ نَذِيرًا ١

[25:1] Blessed be He Who sent down the criterion (of right and wrong, i.e. this Quran) to His slave (Muhammad SAW) that he may be a warner to the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns).

تَبَارَكَ الَّذِي نَزَّلَ الْفُرْقَانَ
Blessed be He Who sent down the criterion

[25:2] He to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and Who has begotten no son (children or offspring) and for Whom there is no partner in the dominion. He has created everything, and has measured it exactly according to its due measurements.

He to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth,
وَلَمْ يَتَّخِذْ وَلَدًا

وَاتَّخَذُوا مِن دُونِهِ آلِهَةً
Yet they have taken besides Him other aliha (gods)
لَّا يَخْلُقُونَ شَيْئًا

Accusations Against the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and Affirmation of the Quran's Divine Origin

Divine Revelation and the Rejection by Disbelievers — Verses 4–6

وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا إِفْكٌ افْتَرَاهُ وَأَعَانَهُ عَلَيْهِ قَوْمٌ آخَرُونَ ۖ فَقَدْ جَاءُوا ظُلْمًا وَزُورًا ٤

[25:4] Those who disbelieve say: "This (the Quran) is nothing but a lie that he (Muhammad SAW) has invented, and others have helped him at it, so that they have produced an unjust wrong (thing) and a lie."

وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا
Those who disbelieve say:
إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا إِفْكٌ افْتَرَاهُ
This (the Quran) is nothing but a lie that he (Muhammad SAW) has invented,
وَأَعَانَهُ عَلَيْهِ قَوْمٌ آخَرُونَ ۖ
and others have helped him at it,

وَقَالُوا مَالِ هَٰذَا الرَّسُولِ يَأْكُلُ الطَّعَامَ وَيَمْشِي فِي الْأَسْوَاقِ ۙ لَوْلَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْهِ مَلَكٌ فَيَكُونَ مَعَهُ نَذِيرًا ٧

[25:7] And they say: "Why does this Messenger (Muhammad SAW) eat food, and walk about in the markets (like ourselves). Why is not an angel sent down to him to be a warner with him?

وَقَالُوا
And they say:
مَالِ هَٰذَا الرَّسُولِ
Why does this Messenger (Muhammad SAW)
يَأْكُلُ الطَّعَامَ
eat food,
وَيَمْشِي فِي الْأَسْوَاقِ ۙ
and walk about in the markets (like ourselves).
لَوْلَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْهِ مَلَكٌ
Why is not an angel sent down to him
فَيَكُونَ مَعَهُ نَذِيرًا
to be a warner with him?

أَوْ يُلْقَىٰ إِلَيْهِ كَنزٌ
Or (why) has not a treasure been granted to him,
أَوْ تَكُونُ لَهُ جَنَّةٌ يَأْكُلُ مِنْهَا ۚ
or why has he not a garden whereof he may eat?
وَقَالَ الظَّالِمُونَ
And the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.) say:
إِن تَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا رَجُلًا مَّسْحُورًا
You follow none but a man bewitched.

The Consequences of Denying the Day of Qiyamah (Resurrection) — Verses 11–14

بَلْ كَذَّبُوا بِالسَّاعَةِ ۖ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لِمَن كَذَّبَ بِالسَّاعَةِ سَعِيرًا ١١

[25:11] Nay, they deny the Hour (the Day of Resurrection), and for those who deny the Hour, We have prepared a flaming Fire (i.e. Hell).

بَلْ كَذَّبُوا بِالسَّاعَةِ ۖ
Nay, they deny the Hour (the Day of Resurrection),
وَأَعْتَدْنَا لِمَن كَذَّبَ بِالسَّاعَةِ
and for those who deny the Hour, We have prepared

a flaming Fire (i.e. Hell).

The Promise of Jannah for the Muttaqun — Verses 15–16

قُلْ أَذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ أَمْ جَنَّةُ الْخُلْدِ الَّتِي وُعِدَ الْمُتَّقُونَ ۚ كَانَتْ لَهُمْ جَزَاءً وَمَصِيرًا ١٥

[25:15] Say: (O Muhammad SAW) "Is that (torment) better or the Paradise of Eternity promised to the Muttaqun (pious and righteous persons - see V. 2:2)?" It will be theirs as a reward and as a final destination.

قُلْ أَذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ
Say: (O Muhammad SAW) 'Is that (torment) better
أَمْ جَنَّةُ الْخُلْدِ
or the Paradise of Eternity
الَّتِي وُعِدَ الْمُتَّقُونَ ۚ
promised to the Muttaqun (pious and righteous persons - see V. 2:2)?
كَانَتْ لَهُمْ جَزَاءً وَمَصِيرًا
It will be theirs as a reward and as a final destination.

Accountability on the Day of Judgment — Verses 17–19

وَيَوْمَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ وَمَا يَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ فَيَقُولُ أَأَنتُمْ أَضْلَلْتُمْ عِبَادِي هَٰؤُلَاءِ أَمْ هُمْ ضَلُّوا السَّبِيلَ ١٧

[25:17] And on the Day when He will gather them together and that which they worship besides Allah [idols, angels, pious men, saints, 'Iesa (Jesus) - son of Maryam (Mary), etc.]. He will say: "Was it you who misled these My slaves or did they (themselves) stray from the (Right) Path?"

وَيَوْمَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ
And on the Day when He will gather them together
وَمَا يَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ
and that which they worship besides Allah
فَيَقُولُ
He will say:
أَأَنتُمْ أَضْلَلْتُمْ عِبَادِي هَٰؤُلَاءِ

[25:18] They will say: "Glorified be You! It was not for us to take any Auliya' (Protectors, Helpers, etc.) besides You, but You gave them and their fathers comfort till they forgot the warning, and became a lost people (doomed to total loss).

قَالُوا سُبْحَانَكَ
They will say: 'Glorified be You!'
مَا كَانَ يَنبَغِي لَنَا أَن نَّتَّخِذَ مِن دُونِكَ مِنْ أَوْلِيَاءَ
It was not for us to take any Auliya' (Protectors, Helpers, etc.) besides You,
وَلَٰكِن مَّتَّعْتَهُمْ وَآبَاءَهُمْ

وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا قَبْلَكَ مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ إِلَّا إِنَّهُمْ لَيَأْكُلُونَ الطَّعَامَ وَيَمْشُونَ فِي الْأَسْوَاقِ ۗ وَجَعَلْنَا بَعْضَكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ فِتْنَةً أَتَصْبِرُونَ ۗ وَكَانَ رَبُّكَ بَصِيرًا ٢٠

[25:20] And We never sent before you (O Muhammad SAW) any of the Messengers but verily, they ate food and walked in the markets. And We have made some of you as a trial for others: will you have patience? And your Lord is Ever All-Seer (of everything).

The Consequences of Arrogance and Disbelief in the Hereafter — Verses 21–24

۞ وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ لَا يَرْجُونَ لِقَاءَنَا لَوْلَا أُنزِلَ عَلَيْنَا الْمَلَائِكَةُ أَوْ نَرَىٰ رَبَّنَا ۗ لَقَدِ اسْتَكْبَرُوا فِي أَنفُسِهِمْ وَعَتَوْا عُتُوًّا كَبِيرًا ٢١

[25:21] And those who expect not for a Meeting with Us (i.e. those who deny the Day of Resurrection and the life of the Hereafter), say: "Why are not the angels sent down to us, or why do we not see our Lord?" Indeed they think too highly of themselves, and are scornful with great pride.

۞ وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ لَا يَرْجُونَ لِقَاءَنَا
And those who expect not for a Meeting with Us
لَوْلَا أُنزِلَ عَلَيْنَا الْمَلَائِكَةُ
say: 'Why are not the angels sent down to us
أَوْ نَرَىٰ رَبَّنَا ۗ

[25:22] On the Day they will see the angels, no glad tidings will there be for the Mujrimun (criminals, disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, etc.) that day. And they (angels) will say: "All kinds of glad tidings are forbidden for you," [None will be allowed to enter Paradise except the one who said: La ilaha ill-Allah, "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah) and acted practically on its legal orders and obligations].

يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَ الْمَلَائِكَةَ
On the Day they will see the angels,
لَا بُشْرَىٰ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُجْرِمِينَ

The Day of Judgment and the Fate of the Disbelievers — Verses 25–29

وَيَوْمَ تَشَقَّقُ السَّمَاءُ بِالْغَمَامِ وَنُزِّلَ الْمَلَائِكَةُ تَنزِيلًا ٢٥

[25:25] And (remember) the Day when the heaven shall be rent asunder with clouds, and the angels will be sent down, with a grand descending.

وَيَوْمَ تَشَقَّقُ السَّمَاءُ بِالْغَمَامِ
And (remember) the Day when the heaven shall be rent asunder with clouds,
وَنُزِّلَ الْمَلَائِكَةُ تَنزِيلًا
and the angels will be sent down, with a grand descending.

[25:26] The sovereignty on that Day will be the true (sovereignty), belonging to the Most Beneficent (Allah), and it will be a hard Day for the disbelievers (those who disbelieve in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism).

The sovereignty on that Day
الْحَقُّ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ ۚ
will be the true (sovereignty), belonging to the Most Beneficent (Allah)

and it will be a hard Day for the disbelievers

[25:27] And (remember) the Day when the Zalim (wrong-doer, oppressor, polytheist, etc.) will bite at his hands, he will say: "Oh! Would that I had taken a path with the Messenger (Muhammad SAW).

وَيَوْمَ يَعَضُّ الظَّالِمُ عَلَىٰ يَدَيْهِ
And (remember) the Day when the Zalim (wrong-doer, oppressor, polytheist, etc.) will bite at his hands,
يَقُولُ
he will say:
يَا لَيْتَنِي اتَّخَذْتُ مَعَ الرَّسُولِ سَبِيلًا
"Oh! Would that I had taken a path with the Messenger (Muhammad SAW)."

[25:29] "He indeed led me astray from the Reminder (this Quran) after it had come to me. And Shaitan (Satan) is ever a deserter to man in the hour of need."

لَّقَدْ أَضَلَّنِي عَنِ الذِّكْرِ
He indeed led me astray from the Reminder
بَعْدَ إِذْ جَاءَنِي ۗ
after it had come to me.
وَكَانَ الشَّيْطَانُ لِلْإِنسَانِ خَذُولًا

وَقَالَ الرَّسُولُ يَا رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوْمِي اتَّخَذُوا هَٰذَا الْقُرْآنَ مَهْجُورًا ٣٠

[25:30] And the Messenger (Muhammad SAW) will say: "O my Lord! Verily, my people deserted this Quran (neither listened to it, nor acted on its laws and orders).

وَقَالَ الرَّسُولُ
And the Messenger (Muhammad SAW) will say:
يَا رَبِّ إِنَّ
O my Lord!
قَوْمِي اتَّخَذُوا
Verily, my people
هَٰذَا الْقُرْآنَ مَهْجُورًا
deserted this Quran

[25:31] Thus have We made for every Prophet an enemy among the Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, criminals, etc.). But Sufficient is your Lord as a Guide and Helper.

وَكَذَٰلِكَ جَعَلْنَا لِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ عَدُوًّا
Thus have We made for every Prophet an enemy
مِّنَ الْمُجْرِمِينَ ۗ

Addressing Disbelievers' Objections and Strengthening the Prophet's Heart

The Gradual Revelation of the Quran and Its Wisdom — Verses 32–34

وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لَوْلَا نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ الْقُرْآنُ جُمْلَةً وَاحِدَةً ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ لِنُثَبِّتَ بِهِ فُؤَادَكَ ۖ وَرَتَّلْنَاهُ تَرْتِيلًا ٣٢

[25:32] And those who disbelieve say: "Why is not the Quran revealed to him all at once?" Thus (it is sent down in parts), that We may strengthen your heart thereby. And We have revealed it to you gradually, in stages. (It was revealed to the Prophet SAW in 23 years.).

وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا
And those who disbelieve say:
لَوْلَا نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ الْقُرْآنُ جُمْلَةً وَاحِدَةً ۚ
"Why is not the Quran revealed to him all at once?"
كَذَٰلِكَ لِنُثَبِّتَ بِهِ فُؤَادَكَ ۖ
Thus (it is sent down in parts), that We may strengthen your heart thereby.
وَرَتَّلْنَاهُ تَرْتِيلًا

[25:33] And no example or similitude do they bring (to oppose or to find fault in you or in this Quran), but We reveal to you the truth (against that similitude or example), and the better explanation thereof.

وَلَا يَأْتُونَكَ بِمَثَلٍ

إِلَّا جِئْنَاكَ بِالْحَقِّ

[25:34] Those who will be gathered to Hell (prone) on their faces, such will be in an evil state, and most astray from the (Straight) Path.

الَّذِينَ يُحْشَرُونَ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ
Those who will be gathered to Hell (prone) on their faces,
إِلَىٰ جَهَنَّمَ
to Hell,
أُولَٰئِكَ
such will be

in an evil state,

and most astray from the (Straight) Path.

وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا مُوسَى الْكِتَابَ وَجَعَلْنَا مَعَهُ أَخَاهُ هَارُونَ وَزِيرًا ٣٥

[25:35] And indeed We gave Musa (Moses) the Scripture [the Taurat (Torah)], and placed his brother Harun (Aaron) with him as a helper;

وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا
And indeed We gave

وَجَعَلْنَا مَعَهُ

[25:36] And We said: "Go you both to the people who have denied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.)." Then We destroyed them with utter destruction.

فَقُلْنَا
And We said:
اذْهَبَا إِلَى الْقَوْمِ
Go you both to the people
الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا
who have denied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.).
فَدَمَّرْنَاهُمْ تَدْمِيرًا
Then We destroyed them with utter destruction.

[25:37] And Nuh's (Noah) people, when they denied the Messengers We drowned them, and We made them as a sign for mankind. And We have prepared a painful torment for the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc).

وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍ

[25:40] And indeed they have passed by the town [of Prophet Lout (Lot)] on which was rained the evil rain. Did they (disbelievers) not then see it (with their own eyes)? Nay! But they used not to expect for any resurrection.

وَلَقَدْ أَتَوْا عَلَى الْقَرْيَةِ
And indeed they have passed by the town
الَّتِي أُمْطِرَتْ مَطَرَ السَّوْءِ ۚ
on which was rained the evil rain.
أَفَلَمْ يَكُونُوا يَرَوْنَهَا ۚ
Did they (disbelievers) not then see it (with their own eyes)?
بَلْ كَانُوا لَا يَرْجُونَ نُشُورًا
Nay! But they used not to expect for any resurrection.

وَإِذَا رَأَوْكَ إِن يَتَّخِذُونَكَ إِلَّا هُزُوًا أَهَٰذَا الَّذِي بَعَثَ اللَّهُ رَسُولًا ٤١

[25:41] And when they see you (O Muhammad SAW), they treat you only as a mockery (saying):"Is this the one whom Allah has sent as a Messenger?

وَإِذَا رَأَوْكَ
And when they see you
إِن يَتَّخِذُونَكَ إِلَّا هُزُوًا
they treat you only as a mockery
أَهَٰذَا الَّذِي بَعَثَ اللَّهُ رَسُولًا
Is this the one whom Allah has sent as a Messenger?
وَإِذَا

[25:42] "He would have nearly misled us from our aliha (gods), had it not been that we were patient and constant in their worship!" And they will know when they see the torment, who it is that is most astray from the (Right) Path!

إِن كَادَ لَيُضِلُّنَا عَنْ آلِهَتِنَا
He would have nearly misled us from our aliha (gods),
لَوْلَا أَن صَبَرْنَا عَلَيْهَا ۚ
had it not been that we were patient and constant in their worship!
وَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ حِينَ يَرَوْنَ الْعَذَابَ
And they will know when they see the torment,
مَنْ أَضَلُّ سَبِيلًا
who it is that is most astray from the (Right) Path!

Have you (O Muhammad SAW) seen him who has taken as his ilah (god) his own desire?
أَفَأَنتَ تَكُونُ عَلَيْهِ وَكِيلًا
Would you then be a Wakil (a disposer of his affairs or a watcher) over him?

أَمْ تَحْسَبُ أَنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ يَسْمَعُونَ أَوْ يَعْقِلُونَ ۚ إِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا كَالْأَنْعَامِ ۖ بَلْ هُمْ أَضَلُّ سَبِيلًا ٤٤

[25:44] Or do you think that most of them hear or understand? They are only like cattle; nay, they are even farther astray from the Path. (i.e. even worst than cattle).

أَمْ تَحْسَبُ
Or do you think
أَنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ يَسْمَعُونَ أَوْ يَعْقِلُونَ ۚ
that most of them hear or understand?
إِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا كَالْأَنْعَامِ ۖ

Say: 'No reward do I ask of you for this
إِلَّا مَن شَاءَ

[25:59] Who created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in six Days. Then He Istawa (rose over) the Throne (in a manner that suits His Majesty). The Most Beneficent (Allah)! Ask Him (O Prophet Muhammad SAW), (concerning His Qualities, His rising over His Throne, His creations, etc.), as He is Al-Khabir (The All-Knower of everything i.e. Allah).

الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا
Who created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them
فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ
in six Days.
ثُمَّ اسْتَوَىٰ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ ۚ

[25:60] And when it is said to them: "Prostrate to the Most Beneficent (Allah)! They say: "And what is the Most Beneficent? Shall we fall down in prostration to that which you (O Muhammad SAW) command us?" And it increases in them only aversion.

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ
And when it is said to them:
اسْجُدُوا لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ
Prostrate to the Most Beneficent (Allah)!
قَالُوا وَمَا الرَّحْمَٰنُ
They say: 'And what is the Most Beneficent?'
أَنَسْجُدُ لِمَا تَأْمُرُنَا
Shall we fall down in prostration to that which you (O Muhammad SAW) command us?
وَزَادَهُمْ نُفُورًا ۩

Attributes of Humility and Patience in the Believers

Characteristics of the Servants of Ar-Rahman (The Most Merciful) — Verses 63–77

وَعِبَادُ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الَّذِينَ يَمْشُونَ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ هَوْنًا وَإِذَا خَاطَبَهُمُ الْجَاهِلُونَ قَالُوا سَلَامًا ٦٣

[25:63] And the slaves of the Most Beneficent (Allah) are those who walk on the earth in humility and sedateness, and when the foolish address them (with bad words) they reply back with mild words of gentleness.

وَعِبَادُ الرَّحْمَٰنِ
And the slaves of the Most Beneficent (Allah)
الَّذِينَ يَمْشُونَ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ هَوْنًا

رَبَّنَا اصْرِفْ عَنَّا عَذَابَ جَهَنَّمَ ۖ
"Our Lord! Avert from us the torment of Hell."
إِنَّ عَذَابَهَا كَانَ غَرَامًا
Verily! Its torment is ever an inseparable, permanent punishment.

[25:70] Except those who repent and believe (in Islamic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds, for those, Allah will change their sins into good deeds, and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

وَعَمِلَ عَمَلًا صَالِحًا
and do righteous deeds,
فَأُولَٰئِكَ

Allah will change their sins into good deeds,
وَكَانَ اللَّهُ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا
and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

[25:71] And whosoever repents and does righteous good deeds, then verily, he repents towards Allah with true repentance.

[25:73] And those who, when they are reminded of the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord, fall not deaf and blind thereat.

وَالَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِّرُوا
And those who, when they are reminded
بِآيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ
of the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord,
لَمْ يَخِرُّوا عَلَيْهَا
fall not
صُمًّا وَعُمْيَانًا
deaf and blind thereat.

[25:74] And those who say: "Our Lord! Bestow on us from our wives and our offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes, and make us leaders for the Muttaqun" (pious - see V. 2:2 and the footnote of V. 3:164)."

وَالَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ
And those who say:
رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا
Our Lord! Bestow on us
مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا
from our wives and our offspring
قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ
who will be the comfort of our eyes,
وَاجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا
and make us leaders for the Muttaqun.

[25:75] Those will be rewarded with the highest place (in Paradise) because of their patience. Therein they shall be met with greetings and the word of peace and respect.

قُلْ مَا يَعْبَأُ بِكُمْ رَبِّي
Say (O Muhammad SAW to the disbelievers): 'My Lord pays attention to you
لَوْلَا دُعَاؤُكُمْ ۖ
only because of your invocation to Him.

وَاتَّخَذُوا مِن دُونِهِ آلِهَةً
Yet they have taken besides Him other aliha (gods)
لَّا يَخْلُقُونَ شَيْئًا
that created nothing
وَهُمْ يُخْلَقُونَ
but are themselves created
وَلَا يَمْلِكُونَ لِأَنفُسِهِمْ ضَرًّا

وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا
Those who disbelieve say:
إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا إِفْكٌ افْتَرَاهُ
This (the Quran) is nothing but a lie that he (Muhammad SAW) has invented,
وَأَعَانَهُ عَلَيْهِ قَوْمٌ آخَرُونَ ۖ
and others have helped him at it,

مَالِ هَٰذَا الرَّسُولِ
Why does this Messenger (Muhammad SAW)
يَأْكُلُ الطَّعَامَ
eat food,
وَيَمْشِي فِي الْأَسْوَاقِ ۙ
and walk about in the markets (like ourselves).
لَوْلَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْهِ مَلَكٌ
Why is not an angel sent down to him
فَيَكُونَ مَعَهُ نَذِيرًا
to be a warner with him?

Or (why) has not a treasure been granted to him,
أَوْ تَكُونُ لَهُ جَنَّةٌ يَأْكُلُ مِنْهَا ۚ
or why has he not a garden whereof he may eat?
وَقَالَ الظَّالِمُونَ
And the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.) say:
إِن تَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا رَجُلًا مَّسْحُورًا
You follow none but a man bewitched.

انظُرْ كَيْفَ ضَرَبُوا لَكَ الْأَمْثَالَ فَضَلُّوا فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ سَبِيلًا ٩

[25:9] See how they coin similitudes for you, so they have gone astray, and they cannot find a (Right) Path.

انظُرْ كَيْفَ ضَرَبُوا لَكَ الْأَمْثَالَ

تَبَارَكَ الَّذِي إِن شَاءَ جَعَلَ لَكَ خَيْرًا مِّن ذَٰلِكَ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ وَيَجْعَل لَّكَ قُصُورًا ١٠

[25:10] Blessed be He Who, if He will, will assign you better than (all) that, - Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise) and will assign you palaces (i.e. in Paradise).

تَبَارَكَ الَّذِي
Blessed be He Who
إِن شَاءَ جَعَلَ لَكَ
if He will, will assign you
خَيْرًا مِّن ذَٰلِكَ
better than (all) that,
جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ
Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise)
وَيَجْعَل لَّكَ قُصُورًا
and will assign you palaces (i.e. in Paradise)

[25:11] Nay, they deny the Hour (the Day of Resurrection), and for those who deny the Hour, We have prepared a flaming Fire (i.e. Hell).

بَلْ كَذَّبُوا بِالسَّاعَةِ ۖ
Nay, they deny the Hour (the Day of Resurrection),
وَأَعْتَدْنَا لِمَن كَذَّبَ بِالسَّاعَةِ
and for those who deny the Hour, We have prepared
سَعِيرًا
a flaming Fire (i.e. Hell).

[25:12] When it (Hell) sees them from a far place, they will hear its raging and its roaring.

[25:13] And when they shall be thrown into a narrow place thereof, chained together, they will exclaim therein for destruction.

[25:14] Exclaim not today for one destruction, but exclaim for many destructions.

[25:15] Say: (O Muhammad SAW) "Is that (torment) better or the Paradise of Eternity promised to the Muttaqun (pious and righteous persons - see V. 2:2)?" It will be theirs as a reward and as a final destination.

قُلْ أَذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ
Say: (O Muhammad SAW) 'Is that (torment) better
أَمْ جَنَّةُ الْخُلْدِ
or the Paradise of Eternity
الَّتِي وُعِدَ الْمُتَّقُونَ ۚ
promised to the Muttaqun (pious and righteous persons - see V. 2:2)?
كَانَتْ لَهُمْ جَزَاءً وَمَصِيرًا
It will be theirs as a reward and as a final destination.

[25:16] For them there will be therein all that they desire, and they will abide (there forever). It is a promise binding upon your Lord that must be fulfilled.

وَيَوْمَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ وَمَا يَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ فَيَقُولُ أَأَنتُمْ أَضْلَلْتُمْ عِبَادِي هَٰؤُلَاءِ أَمْ هُمْ ضَلُّوا السَّبِيلَ ١٧

[25:17] And on the Day when He will gather them together and that which they worship besides Allah [idols, angels, pious men, saints, 'Iesa (Jesus) - son of Maryam (Mary), etc.]. He will say: "Was it you who misled these My slaves or did they (themselves) stray from the (Right) Path?"

وَيَوْمَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ
And on the Day when He will gather them together
وَمَا يَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ
and that which they worship besides Allah
فَيَقُولُ
He will say:
أَأَنتُمْ أَضْلَلْتُمْ عِبَادِي هَٰؤُلَاءِ
"Was it you who misled these My slaves?
أَمْ هُمْ ضَلُّوا السَّبِيلَ
or did they (themselves) stray from the (Right) Path?

[25:18] They will say: "Glorified be You! It was not for us to take any Auliya' (Protectors, Helpers, etc.) besides You, but You gave them and their fathers comfort till they forgot the warning, and became a lost people (doomed to total loss).

قَالُوا سُبْحَانَكَ
They will say: 'Glorified be You!'
مَا كَانَ يَنبَغِي لَنَا أَن نَّتَّخِذَ مِن دُونِكَ مِنْ أَوْلِيَاءَ
It was not for us to take any Auliya' (Protectors, Helpers, etc.) besides You,
وَلَٰكِن مَّتَّعْتَهُمْ وَآبَاءَهُمْ
but You gave them and their fathers comfort
حَتَّىٰ نَسُوا الذِّكْرَ
till they forgot the warning,
وَكَانُوا قَوْمًا بُورًا
and became a lost people (doomed to total loss).

[25:19] Thus they (false gods all deities other than Allah) will give you (polytheists) the lie regarding what you say (that they are gods besides Allah), then you can neither avert (the punishment), nor get help. And whoever among you does wrong (i.e. sets up rivals to Allah), We shall make him taste a great torment.

فَقَدْ كَذَّبُوكُم بِمَا تَقُولُونَ

وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا قَبْلَكَ مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ إِلَّا إِنَّهُمْ لَيَأْكُلُونَ الطَّعَامَ وَيَمْشُونَ فِي الْأَسْوَاقِ ۗ وَجَعَلْنَا بَعْضَكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ فِتْنَةً أَتَصْبِرُونَ ۗ وَكَانَ رَبُّكَ بَصِيرًا ٢٠

[25:20] And We never sent before you (O Muhammad SAW) any of the Messengers but verily, they ate food and walked in the markets. And We have made some of you as a trial for others: will you have patience? And your Lord is Ever All-Seer (of everything).

وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا قَبْلَكَ مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
And We never sent before you (O Muhammad SAW) any of the Messengers
إِلَّا إِنَّهُمْ لَيَأْكُلُونَ الطَّعَامَ وَيَمْشُونَ فِي الْأَسْوَاقِ ۗ
but verily, they ate food and walked in the markets.

۞ وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ لَا يَرْجُونَ لِقَاءَنَا لَوْلَا أُنزِلَ عَلَيْنَا الْمَلَائِكَةُ أَوْ نَرَىٰ رَبَّنَا ۗ لَقَدِ اسْتَكْبَرُوا فِي أَنفُسِهِمْ وَعَتَوْا عُتُوًّا كَبِيرًا ٢١

[25:21] And those who expect not for a Meeting with Us (i.e. those who deny the Day of Resurrection and the life of the Hereafter), say: "Why are not the angels sent down to us, or why do we not see our Lord?" Indeed they think too highly of themselves, and are scornful with great pride.

۞ وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ لَا يَرْجُونَ لِقَاءَنَا
And those who expect not for a Meeting with Us
لَوْلَا أُنزِلَ عَلَيْنَا الْمَلَائِكَةُ
say: 'Why are not the angels sent down to us
أَوْ نَرَىٰ رَبَّنَا ۗ
or why do we not see our Lord?'
لَقَدِ اسْتَكْبَرُوا فِي أَنفُسِهِمْ
Indeed they think too highly of themselves
وَعَتَوْا عُتُوًّا كَبِيرًا
and are scornful with great pride.
۞ وَقَالَ

يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَ الْمَلَائِكَةَ لَا بُشْرَىٰ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُجْرِمِينَ وَيَقُولُونَ حِجْرًا مَّحْجُورًا ٢٢

[25:22] On the Day they will see the angels, no glad tidings will there be for the Mujrimun (criminals, disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, etc.) that day. And they (angels) will say: "All kinds of glad tidings are forbidden for you," [None will be allowed to enter Paradise except the one who said: La ilaha ill-Allah, "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah) and acted practically on its legal orders and obligations].

يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَ الْمَلَائِكَةَ
On the Day they will see the angels,
لَا بُشْرَىٰ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُجْرِمِينَ
no glad tidings will there be for the Mujrimun (criminals, disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, etc.) that day.
وَيَقُولُونَ حِجْرًا مَّحْجُورًا
And they (angels) will say: 'All kinds of glad tidings are forbidden for you,'

[25:23] And We shall turn to whatever deeds they (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, etc.) did, and We shall make such deeds as scattered floating particles of dust.

وَقَدِمْنَا إِلَىٰ مَا عَمِلُوا
And We shall turn to whatever deeds they (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, etc.) did,
مِنْ عَمَلٍ
of deeds
فَجَعَلْنَاهُ
and We shall make such deeds
هَبَاءً مَّنثُورًا
as scattered floating particles of dust.
وَقَدِمْنَا

[25:24] The dwellers of Paradise (i.e. those who deserved it through their Faith and righteousness) will, on that Day, have the best abode, and have the fairest of places for repose.

The dwellers of Paradise
يَوْمَئِذٍ
on that Day
خَيْرٌ مُّسْتَقَرًّا
will have the best abode
وَأَحْسَنُ مَقِيلًا
and have the fairest of places for repose

[25:25] And (remember) the Day when the heaven shall be rent asunder with clouds, and the angels will be sent down, with a grand descending.

وَيَوْمَ تَشَقَّقُ السَّمَاءُ بِالْغَمَامِ
And (remember) the Day when the heaven shall be rent asunder with clouds,
وَنُزِّلَ الْمَلَائِكَةُ تَنزِيلًا
and the angels will be sent down, with a grand descending.
وَيَوْمَ

الْمُلْكُ يَوْمَئِذٍ الْحَقُّ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ ۚ وَكَانَ يَوْمًا عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ عَسِيرًا ٢٦

[25:26] The sovereignty on that Day will be the true (sovereignty), belonging to the Most Beneficent (Allah), and it will be a hard Day for the disbelievers (those who disbelieve in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism).

الْمُلْكُ يَوْمَئِذٍ
The sovereignty on that Day
الْحَقُّ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ ۚ
will be the true (sovereignty), belonging to the Most Beneficent (Allah)
وَكَانَ يَوْمًا عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ عَسِيرًا
and it will be a hard Day for the disbelievers

وَيَوْمَ يَعَضُّ الظَّالِمُ عَلَىٰ يَدَيْهِ يَقُولُ يَا لَيْتَنِي اتَّخَذْتُ مَعَ الرَّسُولِ سَبِيلًا ٢٧

[25:27] And (remember) the Day when the Zalim (wrong-doer, oppressor, polytheist, etc.) will bite at his hands, he will say: "Oh! Would that I had taken a path with the Messenger (Muhammad SAW).

وَيَوْمَ يَعَضُّ الظَّالِمُ عَلَىٰ يَدَيْهِ
And (remember) the Day when the Zalim (wrong-doer, oppressor, polytheist, etc.) will bite at his hands,
يَقُولُ
he will say:
يَا لَيْتَنِي اتَّخَذْتُ مَعَ الرَّسُولِ سَبِيلًا
"Oh! Would that I had taken a path with the Messenger (Muhammad SAW)."
وَيَوْمَ

[25:29] "He indeed led me astray from the Reminder (this Quran) after it had come to me. And Shaitan (Satan) is ever a deserter to man in the hour of need."

لَّقَدْ أَضَلَّنِي عَنِ الذِّكْرِ
He indeed led me astray from the Reminder
بَعْدَ إِذْ جَاءَنِي ۗ
after it had come to me.
وَكَانَ الشَّيْطَانُ لِلْإِنسَانِ خَذُولًا
And Shaitan (Satan) is ever a deserter to man in the hour of need.

[25:30] And the Messenger (Muhammad SAW) will say: "O my Lord! Verily, my people deserted this Quran (neither listened to it, nor acted on its laws and orders).

وَقَالَ الرَّسُولُ
And the Messenger (Muhammad SAW) will say:
يَا رَبِّ إِنَّ
O my Lord!
قَوْمِي اتَّخَذُوا
Verily, my people
هَٰذَا الْقُرْآنَ مَهْجُورًا
deserted this Quran
وَقَالَ

وَكَذَٰلِكَ جَعَلْنَا لِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ عَدُوًّا مِّنَ الْمُجْرِمِينَ ۗ وَكَفَىٰ بِرَبِّكَ هَادِيًا وَنَصِيرًا ٣١

[25:31] Thus have We made for every Prophet an enemy among the Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, criminals, etc.). But Sufficient is your Lord as a Guide and Helper.

وَكَذَٰلِكَ جَعَلْنَا لِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ عَدُوًّا
Thus have We made for every Prophet an enemy
مِّنَ الْمُجْرِمِينَ ۗ
among the Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, criminals, etc.)
وَكَفَىٰ بِرَبِّكَ هَادِيًا وَنَصِيرًا
But Sufficient is your Lord as a Guide and Helper
وَكَذَٰلِكَ

وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لَوْلَا نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ الْقُرْآنُ جُمْلَةً وَاحِدَةً ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ لِنُثَبِّتَ بِهِ فُؤَادَكَ ۖ وَرَتَّلْنَاهُ تَرْتِيلًا ٣٢

[25:32] And those who disbelieve say: "Why is not the Quran revealed to him all at once?" Thus (it is sent down in parts), that We may strengthen your heart thereby. And We have revealed it to you gradually, in stages. (It was revealed to the Prophet SAW in 23 years.).

وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا
And those who disbelieve say:
لَوْلَا نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ الْقُرْآنُ جُمْلَةً وَاحِدَةً ۚ
"Why is not the Quran revealed to him all at once?"
كَذَٰلِكَ لِنُثَبِّتَ بِهِ فُؤَادَكَ ۖ
Thus (it is sent down in parts), that We may strengthen your heart thereby.
وَرَتَّلْنَاهُ تَرْتِيلًا
And We have revealed it to you gradually, in stages.
وَقَالَ

[25:33] And no example or similitude do they bring (to oppose or to find fault in you or in this Quran), but We reveal to you the truth (against that similitude or example), and the better explanation thereof.

وَلَا يَأْتُونَكَ بِمَثَلٍ
And no example or similitude do they bring
إِلَّا جِئْنَاكَ بِالْحَقِّ
but We reveal to you the truth
وَأَحْسَنَ تَفْسِيرًا
and the better explanation thereof
وَلَا

الَّذِينَ يُحْشَرُونَ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ إِلَىٰ جَهَنَّمَ أُولَٰئِكَ شَرٌّ مَّكَانًا وَأَضَلُّ سَبِيلًا ٣٤

[25:34] Those who will be gathered to Hell (prone) on their faces, such will be in an evil state, and most astray from the (Straight) Path.

الَّذِينَ يُحْشَرُونَ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ
Those who will be gathered to Hell (prone) on their faces,
إِلَىٰ جَهَنَّمَ
to Hell,
أُولَٰئِكَ
such will be
شَرٌّ مَّكَانًا
in an evil state,
وَأَضَلُّ سَبِيلًا
and most astray from the (Straight) Path.

[25:35] And indeed We gave Musa (Moses) the Scripture [the Taurat (Torah)], and placed his brother Harun (Aaron) with him as a helper;

وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا
And indeed We gave
مُوسَى الْكِتَابَ
Musa (Moses) the Scripture [the Taurat (Torah)]
وَجَعَلْنَا مَعَهُ
and placed with him
أَخَاهُ هَارُونَ
his brother Harun (Aaron)
وَزِيرًا
as a helper
وَلَقَدْ

[25:36] And We said: "Go you both to the people who have denied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.)." Then We destroyed them with utter destruction.

فَقُلْنَا
And We said:
اذْهَبَا إِلَى الْقَوْمِ
Go you both to the people
الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا
who have denied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.).
فَدَمَّرْنَاهُمْ تَدْمِيرًا
Then We destroyed them with utter destruction.
فَقُلْنَا

وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍ لَّمَّا كَذَّبُوا الرُّسُلَ أَغْرَقْنَاهُمْ وَجَعَلْنَاهُمْ لِلنَّاسِ آيَةً ۖ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لِلظَّالِمِينَ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا ٣٧

[25:37] And Nuh's (Noah) people, when they denied the Messengers We drowned them, and We made them as a sign for mankind. And We have prepared a painful torment for the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc).

وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍ
And Nuh's (Noah) people
لَّمَّا كَذَّبُوا الرُّسُلَ
when they denied the Messengers
أَغْرَقْنَاهُمْ
We drowned them
وَجَعَلْنَاهُمْ لِلنَّاسِ آيَةً ۖ
and We made them as a sign for mankind
وَأَعْتَدْنَا لِلظَّالِمِينَ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا
And We have prepared a painful torment for the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc)

[25:38] And (also) 'Ad and Thamud, and the dwellers of Ar-Rass, and many generations in between.

وَقُرُونًا بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ كَثِيرًا

[25:39] And for each of them We put forward examples (as proofs and lessons, etc.), and each (of them) We brought to utter ruin (because of their disbelief and evil deeds).

[25:40] And indeed they have passed by the town [of Prophet Lout (Lot)] on which was rained the evil rain. Did they (disbelievers) not then see it (with their own eyes)? Nay! But they used not to expect for any resurrection.

وَلَقَدْ أَتَوْا عَلَى الْقَرْيَةِ
And indeed they have passed by the town
الَّتِي أُمْطِرَتْ مَطَرَ السَّوْءِ ۚ
on which was rained the evil rain.
أَفَلَمْ يَكُونُوا يَرَوْنَهَا ۚ
Did they (disbelievers) not then see it (with their own eyes)?
بَلْ كَانُوا لَا يَرْجُونَ نُشُورًا
Nay! But they used not to expect for any resurrection.
وَلَقَدْ

[25:41] And when they see you (O Muhammad SAW), they treat you only as a mockery (saying):"Is this the one whom Allah has sent as a Messenger?

وَإِذَا رَأَوْكَ
And when they see you
إِن يَتَّخِذُونَكَ إِلَّا هُزُوًا
they treat you only as a mockery
أَهَٰذَا الَّذِي بَعَثَ اللَّهُ رَسُولًا
Is this the one whom Allah has sent as a Messenger?

[25:42] "He would have nearly misled us from our aliha (gods), had it not been that we were patient and constant in their worship!" And they will know when they see the torment, who it is that is most astray from the (Right) Path!

إِن كَادَ لَيُضِلُّنَا عَنْ آلِهَتِنَا
He would have nearly misled us from our aliha (gods),
لَوْلَا أَن صَبَرْنَا عَلَيْهَا ۚ
had it not been that we were patient and constant in their worship!
وَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ حِينَ يَرَوْنَ الْعَذَابَ
And they will know when they see the torment,
مَنْ أَضَلُّ سَبِيلًا
who it is that is most astray from the (Right) Path!

[25:43] Have you (O Muhammad SAW) seen him who has taken as his ilah (god) his own desire? Would you then be a Wakil (a disposer of his affairs or a watcher) over him?

أَرَأَيْتَ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ إِلَٰهَهُ هَوَاهُ
Have you (O Muhammad SAW) seen him who has taken as his ilah (god) his own desire?
أَفَأَنتَ تَكُونُ عَلَيْهِ وَكِيلًا
Would you then be a Wakil (a disposer of his affairs or a watcher) over him?

[25:44] Or do you think that most of them hear or understand? They are only like cattle; nay, they are even farther astray from the Path. (i.e. even worst than cattle).

أَمْ تَحْسَبُ
Or do you think
أَنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ يَسْمَعُونَ أَوْ يَعْقِلُونَ ۚ
that most of them hear or understand?
إِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا كَالْأَنْعَامِ ۖ
They are only like cattle;
بَلْ هُمْ أَضَلُّ سَبِيلًا
nay, they are even farther astray from the Path.

أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَيْفَ مَدَّ الظِّلَّ وَلَوْ شَاءَ لَجَعَلَهُ سَاكِنًا ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَا الشَّمْسَ عَلَيْهِ دَلِيلًا ٤٥

[25:45] Have you not seen how your Lord spread the shadow. If He willed, He could have made it still then We have made the sun its guide [i.e. after the sunrise, it (the shadow) squeezes and vanishes at midnoon and then again appears in the afternoon with the decline of the sun, and had there been no sun light, there would have been no shadow].

أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ
Have you not seen how your Lord
كَيْفَ مَدَّ الظِّلَّ
spread the shadow.
وَلَوْ شَاءَ لَجَعَلَهُ سَاكِنًا
If He willed, He could have made it still.
ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَا الشَّمْسَ عَلَيْهِ دَلِيلًا
then We have made the sun its guide.

[25:47] And it is He Who makes the night a covering for you, and the sleep (as) repose, and makes the day Nushur (i.e. getting up and going about here and there for daily work, etc. after one's sleep at night or like resurrection after one's death).

وَهُوَ الَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ اللَّيْلَ
And it is He Who makes the night
لِبَاسًا

[25:48] And it is He Who sends the winds as heralds of glad tidings, going before His Mercy (rain), and We send down pure water from the sky,

بُشْرًا بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَحْمَتِهِ ۚ

[25:50] And indeed We have distributed it (rain or water) amongst them in order that they may remember the Grace of Allah, but most men refuse (or deny the Truth or Faith) and accept nothing but disbelief or ingratitude.

وَلَقَدْ صَرَّفْنَاهُ بَيْنَهُمْ
And indeed We have distributed it (rain or water) amongst them
لِيَذَّكَّرُوا
in order that they may remember
فَأَبَىٰ أَكْثَرُ النَّاسِ
but most men refuse
إِلَّا كُفُورًا

جِهَادًا كَبِيرًا
with the utmost endeavour, with it (the Quran)

[25:53] And it is He Who has let free the two seas (kinds of water), one palatable and sweet, and the other salt and bitter, and He has set a barrier and a complete partition between them.

۞ وَهُوَ الَّذِي
And it is He Who
مَرَجَ الْبَحْرَيْنِ
has let free the two seas (kinds of water)
هَٰذَا عَذْبٌ فُرَاتٌ
one palatable and sweet
وَهَٰذَا مِلْحٌ أُجَاجٌ
and the other salt and bitter
وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَهُمَا
and He has set a barrier between them
بَرْزَخًا وَحِجْرًا مَّحْجُورًا
and a complete partition

[25:54] And it is He Who has created man from water, and has appointed for him kindred by blood, and kindred by marriage. And your Lord is Ever All-Powerful to do what He will.

وَهُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ مِنَ الْمَاءِ بَشَرًا
And it is He Who has created man from water,
فَجَعَلَهُ نَسَبًا وَصِهْرًا ۗ
and has appointed for him kindred by blood, and kindred by marriage.
وَكَانَ رَبُّكَ قَدِيرًا
And your Lord is Ever All-Powerful to do what He will.

[25:55] And they (disbelievers, polytheists, etc.) worship besides Allah, that which can neither profit them nor harm them, and the disbeliever is ever a helper (of the Satan) against his Lord.

وَيَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ
And they (disbelievers, polytheists, etc.) worship besides Allah,
مَا لَا يَنفَعُهُمْ وَلَا يَضُرُّهُمْ ۗ
that which can neither profit them nor harm them,
وَكَانَ الْكَافِرُ عَلَىٰ رَبِّهِ ظَهِيرًا
and the disbeliever is ever a helper (of the Satan) against his Lord.

[25:57] Say: "No reward do I ask of you for this (that which I have brought from my Lord and its preaching, etc.), save that whosoever wills, may take a Path to his Lord.

قُلْ مَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ
Say: 'No reward do I ask of you for this
إِلَّا مَن شَاءَ
save that whosoever wills,
أَن يَتَّخِذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِ سَبِيلًا
may take a Path to his Lord.

[25:58] And put your trust (O Muhammad SAW) in the Ever Living One Who dies not, and glorify His Praises, and Sufficient is He as the All-Knower of the sins of His slaves;

وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى الْحَيِّ الَّذِي لَا يَمُوتُ
And put your trust (O Muhammad SAW) in the Ever Living One Who dies not
وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِهِ ۚ
and glorify His Praises
وَكَفَىٰ بِهِ بِذُنُوبِ عِبَادِهِ خَبِيرًا
and Sufficient is He as the All-Knower of the sins of His slaves
وَتَوَكَّلْ

الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ ثُمَّ اسْتَوَىٰ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ ۚ الرَّحْمَٰنُ فَاسْأَلْ بِهِ خَبِيرًا ٥٩

[25:59] Who created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in six Days. Then He Istawa (rose over) the Throne (in a manner that suits His Majesty). The Most Beneficent (Allah)! Ask Him (O Prophet Muhammad SAW), (concerning His Qualities, His rising over His Throne, His creations, etc.), as He is Al-Khabir (The All-Knower of everything i.e. Allah).

الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا
Who created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them
فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ
in six Days.
ثُمَّ اسْتَوَىٰ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ ۚ
Then He Istawa (rose over) the Throne (in a manner that suits His Majesty).
الرَّحْمَٰنُ
The Most Beneficent (Allah)!
فَاسْأَلْ بِهِ خَبِيرًا
Ask Him (O Prophet Muhammad SAW), (concerning His Qualities, His rising over His Throne, His creations, etc.), as He is Al-Khabir (The All-Knower of everything i.e. Allah).

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ اسْجُدُوا لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ قَالُوا وَمَا الرَّحْمَٰنُ أَنَسْجُدُ لِمَا تَأْمُرُنَا وَزَادَهُمْ نُفُورًا ۩ ٦٠

[25:60] And when it is said to them: "Prostrate to the Most Beneficent (Allah)! They say: "And what is the Most Beneficent? Shall we fall down in prostration to that which you (O Muhammad SAW) command us?" And it increases in them only aversion.

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ
And when it is said to them:
اسْجُدُوا لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ
Prostrate to the Most Beneficent (Allah)!
قَالُوا وَمَا الرَّحْمَٰنُ
They say: 'And what is the Most Beneficent?'
أَنَسْجُدُ لِمَا تَأْمُرُنَا
Shall we fall down in prostration to that which you (O Muhammad SAW) command us?
وَزَادَهُمْ نُفُورًا ۩
And it increases in them only aversion.

[25:61] Blessed be He Who has placed in the heaven big stars, and has placed therein a great lamp (sun), and a moon giving light.

تَبَارَكَ الَّذِي

[25:62] And He it is Who has put the night and the day in succession, for such who desires to remember or desires to show his gratitude.

وَهُوَ الَّذِي

خِلْفَةً لِّمَنْ أَرَادَ

وَعِبَادُ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الَّذِينَ يَمْشُونَ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ هَوْنًا وَإِذَا خَاطَبَهُمُ الْجَاهِلُونَ قَالُوا سَلَامًا ٦٣

[25:63] And the slaves of the Most Beneficent (Allah) are those who walk on the earth in humility and sedateness, and when the foolish address them (with bad words) they reply back with mild words of gentleness.

وَعِبَادُ الرَّحْمَٰنِ
And the slaves of the Most Beneficent (Allah)
الَّذِينَ يَمْشُونَ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ هَوْنًا

[25:65] And those who say: "Our Lord! Avert from us the torment of Hell. Verily! Its torment is ever an inseparable, permanent punishment."

وَالَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ
And those who say:
رَبَّنَا اصْرِفْ عَنَّا عَذَابَ جَهَنَّمَ ۖ
"Our Lord! Avert from us the torment of Hell."
إِنَّ عَذَابَهَا كَانَ غَرَامًا
Verily! Its torment is ever an inseparable, permanent punishment.

[25:67] And those, who, when they spend, are neither extravagant nor niggardly, but hold a medium (way) between those (extremes).

وَالَّذِينَ إِذَا أَنفَقُوا
And those, who, when they spend,
لَمْ يُسْرِفُوا
are neither extravagant
وَلَمْ يَقْتُرُوا
nor niggardly,
وَكَانَ بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ قَوَامًا
but hold a medium (way) between those (extremes).
وَالَّذِينَ

[25:68] And those who invoke not any other ilah (god) along with Allah, nor kill such life as Allah has forbidden, except for just cause, nor commit illegal sexual intercourse and whoever does this shall receive the punishment.

وَالَّذِينَ لَا يَدْعُونَ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا آخَرَ

وَيَخْلُدْ فِيهِ مُهَانًا
and he will abide therein in disgrace

إِلَّا مَن تَابَ وَآمَنَ وَعَمِلَ عَمَلًا صَالِحًا فَأُولَٰئِكَ يُبَدِّلُ اللَّهُ سَيِّئَاتِهِمْ حَسَنَاتٍ ۗ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا ٧٠

[25:70] Except those who repent and believe (in Islamic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds, for those, Allah will change their sins into good deeds, and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

إِلَّا مَن تَابَ
Except those who repent
وَآمَنَ
and believe (in Islamic Monotheism),
وَعَمِلَ عَمَلًا صَالِحًا
and do righteous deeds,
فَأُولَٰئِكَ
for those,
يُبَدِّلُ اللَّهُ سَيِّئَاتِهِمْ حَسَنَاتٍ ۗ
Allah will change their sins into good deeds,
وَكَانَ اللَّهُ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا
and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

[25:72] And those who do not witness falsehood, and if they pass by some evil play or evil talk, they pass by it with dignity.

وَالَّذِينَ لَا يَشْهَدُونَ الزُّورَ
And those who do not witness falsehood,
وَإِذَا مَرُّوا بِاللَّغْوِ
and if they pass by some evil play or evil talk,
مَرُّوا كِرَامًا
they pass by it with dignity.
وَالَّذِينَ

[25:73] And those who, when they are reminded of the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord, fall not deaf and blind thereat.

وَالَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِّرُوا
And those who, when they are reminded
بِآيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ
of the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord,
لَمْ يَخِرُّوا عَلَيْهَا
fall not
صُمًّا وَعُمْيَانًا
deaf and blind thereat.
وَالَّذِينَ

[25:74] And those who say: "Our Lord! Bestow on us from our wives and our offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes, and make us leaders for the Muttaqun" (pious - see V. 2:2 and the footnote of V. 3:164)."

وَالَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ
And those who say:
رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا
Our Lord! Bestow on us
مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا
from our wives and our offspring
قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ
who will be the comfort of our eyes,
وَاجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا
and make us leaders for the Muttaqun.
وَالَّذِينَ

أَزْوَاجِنَا

أُولَٰئِكَ يُجْزَوْنَ الْغُرْفَةَ بِمَا صَبَرُوا وَيُلَقَّوْنَ فِيهَا تَحِيَّةً وَسَلَامًا ٧٥

[25:75] Those will be rewarded with the highest place (in Paradise) because of their patience. Therein they shall be met with greetings and the word of peace and respect.

أُولَٰئِكَ
Those will be
يُجْزَوْنَ الْغُرْفَةَ
rewarded with the highest place (in Paradise)
بِمَا صَبَرُوا
because of their patience.
وَيُلَقَّوْنَ فِيهَا
Therein they shall be met with
تَحِيَّةً وَسَلَامًا
greetings and the word of peace and respect.

[25:76] Abiding therein; excellent it is as an abode, and as a place to dwell.

قُلْ مَا يَعْبَأُ بِكُمْ رَبِّي لَوْلَا دُعَاؤُكُمْ ۖ فَقَدْ كَذَّبْتُمْ فَسَوْفَ يَكُونُ لِزَامًا ٧٧

[25:77] Say (O Muhammad SAW to the disbelievers): "My Lord pays attention to you only because of your invocation to Him. But now you have indeed denied (Him). So the torment will be yours for ever (inseparable permanent punishment)."

قُلْ مَا يَعْبَأُ بِكُمْ رَبِّي
Say (O Muhammad SAW to the disbelievers): 'My Lord pays attention to you
لَوْلَا دُعَاؤُكُمْ ۖ
only because of your invocation to Him.
فَقَدْ كَذَّبْتُمْ
But now you have indeed denied (Him).
فَسَوْفَ يَكُونُ لِزَامًا
So the torment will be yours for ever (inseparable permanent punishment).
