[69:7] Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms!

سَخَّرَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ

سَبْعَ لَيَالٍ وَثَمَانِيَةَ أَيَّامٍ حُسُومًا

فَتَرَى الْقَوْمَ فِيهَا صَرْعَىٰ

so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed)

كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ خَاوِيَةٍ

[69:17] And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them.

وَالْمَلَكُ عَلَىٰ أَرْجَائِهَا ۚ

And the angels will be on its sides,

وَيَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَبِّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ

and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them.

يَوْمَئِذٍ ثَمَانِيَةٌ

هَاؤُمُ اقْرَءُوا كِتَابِيَهْ

"Take, read my Record!"

فَيَقُولُ

will say:

يَا لَيْتَنِي لَمْ أُوتَ كِتَابِيَهْ

"I wish that I had not been given my Record!

[69:35] So no friend has he here this Day,
