قَدْ أَفْلَحَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ ١

[23:1] Successful indeed are the believers.

[23:6] Except from their wives or (the captives and slaves) that their right hands possess, for then, they are free from blame;

أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُهُمْ

or (the captives and slaves) that their right hands possess

فَإِنَّهُمْ غَيْرُ مَلُومِينَ

for then, they are free from blame

[23:14] Then We made the Nutfah into a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood), then We made the clot into a little lump of flesh, then We made out of that little lump of flesh bones, then We clothed the bones with flesh, and then We brought it forth as another creation. So blessed be Allah, the Best of creators.

ثُمَّ خَلَقْنَا النُّطْفَةَ

Then We made the Nutfah

عَلَقَةً

into a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood),

فَخَلَقْنَا الْعَلَقَةَ

then We made the clot

مُضْغَةً

into a little lump of flesh,

فَخَلَقْنَا الْمُضْغَةَ

then We made out of that little lump of flesh

عِظَامًا

bones,

فَكَسَوْنَا الْعِظَامَ

then We clothed the bones

لَحْمًا

with flesh,

ثُمَّ أَنشَأْنَاهُ

and then We brought it forth

خَلْقًا آخَرَ ۚ

as another creation.

فَتَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ

So blessed be Allah,

أَحْسَنُ الْخَالِقِينَ

the Best of creators.

وَمَا كُنَّا عَنِ الْخَلْقِ غَافِلِينَ

and We are never unaware of the creation

[23:18] And We sent down from the sky water (rain) in (due) measure, and We gave it lodging in the earth, and verily, We are Able to take it away.

وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً بِقَدَرٍ

And We sent down from the sky water (rain) in (due) measure

فَأَسْكَنَّاهُ فِي الْأَرْضِ ۖ

and We gave it lodging in the earth

وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰ ذَهَابٍ بِهِ لَقَادِرُونَ

and verily, We are Able to take it away

وَأَنزَلْنَا

[23:19] Then We brought forth for you therewith gardens of date-palms and grapes, wherein is much fruit for you, and whereof you eat.

فَأَنشَأْنَا لَكُم بِهِ

Then We brought forth for you therewith

جَنَّاتٍ مِّن نَّخِيلٍ وَأَعْنَابٍ

gardens of date-palms and grapes

لَّكُمْ فِيهَا

wherein is much fruit for you

فَوَاكِهُ كَثِيرَةٌ

and whereof you eat

فَأَنشَأْنَا

[23:20] And a tree (olive) that springs forth from Mount Sinai, that grows oil, and (it is a) relish for the eaters.

وَشَجَرَةً

تَنبُتُ بِالدُّهْنِ

وَصِبْغٍ لِّلْآكِلِينَ

[23:21] And Verily! In the cattle there is indeed a lesson for you. We give you to drink (milk) of that which is in their bellies. And there are, in them, numerous (other) benefits for you, and of them you eat.

وَإِنَّ لَكُمْ فِي الْأَنْعَامِ لَعِبْرَةً ۖ

And Verily! In the cattle there is indeed a lesson for you.

نُّسْقِيكُم مِّمَّا فِي بُطُونِهَا

We give you to drink (milk) of that which is in their bellies.

وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا مَنَافِعُ كَثِيرَةٌ

And there are, in them, numerous (other) benefits for you,

وَمِنْهَا تَأْكُلُونَ

and of them you eat.

[23:23] And indeed We sent Nuh (Noah) to his people, and he said: "O my people! Worship Allah! You have no other Ilah (God) but Him (Islamic Monotheism). Will you not then be afraid (of Him i.e. of His Punishment because of worshipping others besides Him)?"

وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ

And indeed We sent Nuh (Noah) to his people,

فَقَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا

and he said: 'O my people!

اللَّهَ مَا

Worship Allah!

لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ ۖ أَفَلَا

You have no other Ilah (God) but Him (Islamic Monotheism).

تَتَّقُونَ

Will you not then be afraid (of Him i.e. of His Punishment because of worshipping others besides Him)?

وَلَقَدْ

فَقَالَ الْمَلَأُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِن قَوْمِهِ مَا هَٰذَا إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ يُرِيدُ أَن يَتَفَضَّلَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَلَوْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ لَأَنزَلَ مَلَائِكَةً مَّا سَمِعْنَا بِهَٰذَا فِي آبَائِنَا الْأَوَّلِينَ ٢٤

[23:24] But the chiefs of those who disbelieved among his people said: "He is no more than a human being like you, he seeks to make himself superior to you. Had Allah willed, He surely could have sent down angels; never did we hear such a thing among our fathers of old.

فَقَالَ الْمَلَأُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِن قَوْمِهِ

But the chiefs of those who disbelieved among his people said:

مَا هَٰذَا إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ

He is no more than a human being like you,

يُرِيدُ أَن يَتَفَضَّلَ عَلَيْكُمْ

he seeks to make himself superior to you.

وَلَوْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ لَأَنزَلَ مَلَائِكَةً

Had Allah willed, He surely could have sent down angels;

مَّا سَمِعْنَا بِهَٰذَا فِي آبَائِنَا الْأَوَّلِينَ

never did we hear such a thing among our fathers of old.

فَقَالَ

[23:27] So We inspired him (saying): "Construct the ship under Our Eyes and under Our Revelation (guidance). Then, when Our Command comes, and the oven gushes forth water, take on board of each kind two (male and female), and your family, except those thereof against whom the Word has already gone forth. And address Me not in favour of those who have done wrong. Verily, they are to be drowned.

فَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْهِ

So We inspired him

أَنِ اصْنَعِ الْفُلْكَ

(saying): 'Construct the ship

بِأَعْيُنِنَا وَوَحْيِنَا

under Our Eyes and under Our Revelation (guidance).

فَإِذَا جَاءَ أَمْرُنَا

Then, when Our Command comes,

وَفَارَ التَّنُّورُ ۙ

and the oven gushes forth water,

فَاسْلُكْ فِيهَا مِن كُلٍّ زَوْجَيْنِ اثْنَيْنِ

take on board of each kind two (male and female),

وَأَهْلَكَ

and your family,

إِلَّا مَن سَبَقَ عَلَيْهِ الْقَوْلُ مِنْهُمْ ۖ

except those thereof against whom the Word has already gone forth.

وَلَا تُخَاطِبْنِي فِي الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا ۖ

And address Me not in favour of those who have done wrong.

إِنَّهُم مُّغْرَقُونَ

Verily, they are to be drowned.

[23:28] And when you have embarked on the ship, you and whoever is with you, then say: "All the praises and thanks be to Allah, Who has saved us from the people who are Zalimun (i.e. oppressors, wrong-doers, polytheists, those who join others in worship with Allah, etc.).

فَإِذَا اسْتَوَيْتَ أَنتَ وَمَن مَّعَكَ عَلَى الْفُلْكِ

And when you have embarked on the ship, you and whoever is with you,

فَقُلِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ

then say: 'All the praises and thanks be to Allah,'

الَّذِي نَجَّانَا مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ

Who has saved us from the people who are Zalimun (i.e. oppressors, wrong-doers, polytheists, those who join others in worship with Allah, etc.).

[23:30] Verily, in this [what We did as regards drowning of the people of Nuh (Noah)], there are indeed Ayat (proofs, evidences, lessons, signs, etc. for men to understand), for sure We are ever putting (men) to the test.

إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ

Verily, in this

لَآيَاتٍ

there are indeed Ayat (proofs, evidences, lessons, signs, etc.)

وَإِن كُنَّا

for sure We are

لَمُبْتَلِينَ

ever putting (men) to the test.

فَأَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِمْ رَسُولًا مِّنْهُمْ

And We sent to them a Messenger from among themselves

أَنِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ

(saying): 'Worship Allah!

مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ ۖ

You have no other Ilah (God) but Him.

أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ

Will you not then be afraid (of Him i.e. of His Punishment because of worshipping others besides Him)?

فَأَرْسَلْنَا

[23:33] And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and to whom We had given the luxuries and comforts of this life, said: "He is no more than a human being like you, he eats of that which you eat, and drinks of what you drink.

وَقَالَ الْمَلَأُ مِن قَوْمِهِ

And the chiefs of his people,

الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَكَذَّبُوا بِلِقَاءِ الْآخِرَةِ

who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter,

وَأَتْرَفْنَاهُمْ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا

and to whom We had given the luxuries and comforts of this life,

مَا هَٰذَا إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ

said: 'He is no more than a human being like you,

يَأْكُلُ مِمَّا تَأْكُلُونَ

he eats of that which you eat,

مِنْهُ وَيَشْرَبُ مِمَّا تَشْرَبُونَ

and drinks of what you drink.'

إِنَّكُمْ إِذًا لَّخَاسِرُونَ

then verily! You indeed would be losers.

[23:41] So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead plants. So away with the people who are Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, disobedient to His Messengers, etc.).

فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّيْحَةُ بِالْحَقِّ

[23:44] Then We sent Our Messengers in succession, every time there came to a nation their Messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another (to destruction), and We made them as Ahadith (the true stories for mankind to learn a lesson from them). So away with a people who believe not.

ثُمَّ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلَنَا تَتْرَىٰ ۖ

Then We sent Our Messengers in succession

كُلَّ مَا جَاءَ أُمَّةً رَّسُولُهَا كَذَّبُوهُ ۚ

every time there came to a nation their Messenger, they denied him

فَأَتْبَعْنَا بَعْضَهُم بَعْضًا

[23:46] To Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and his chiefs, but they behaved insolently and they were people self-exalting (by disobeying their Lord, and exalting themselves over and above the Messenger of Allah).

إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَئِهِ

To Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and his chiefs,

فَاسْتَكْبَرُوا

but they behaved insolently

وَكَانُوا قَوْمًا عَالِينَ

and they were people self-exalting (by disobeying their Lord, and exalting themselves over and above the Messenger of Allah).

وَقَوْمُهُمَا لَنَا عَابِدُونَ

[23:51] O (you) Messengers! Eat of the Taiyibat [all kinds of Halal (legal) foods which Allah has made legal (meat of slaughtered eatable animals, milk products, fats, vegetables, fruits, etc.], and do righteous deeds. Verily! I am Well-Acquainted with what you do.

يَا أَيُّهَا الرُّسُلُ كُلُوا

O (you) Messengers!

مِنَ الطَّيِّبَاتِ وَاعْمَلُوا

Eat of the Taiyibat [all kinds of Halal (legal) foods which Allah has made legal

صَالِحًا ۖ إِنِّي

and do righteous deeds.

[23:52] And verily! This your religion (of Islamic Monotheism) is one religion, and I am your Lord, so keep your duty to Me.

And verily! This your religion (of Islamic Monotheism) is one religion,

وَأَنَا رَبُّكُمْ

and I am your Lord,

فَاتَّقُونِ

so keep your duty to Me.

فَتَقَطَّعُوا أَمْرَهُم بَيْنَهُمْ

[23:60] And those who give that (their charity) which they give (and also do other good deeds) with their hearts full of fear (whether their alms and charities, etc., have been accepted or not), because they are sure to return to their Lord (for reckoning).

وَالَّذِينَ يُؤْتُونَ مَا آتَوا

And those who give that (their charity) which they give

وَّقُلُوبُهُمْ وَجِلَةٌ

with their hearts full of fear

أَنَّهُمْ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ رَاجِعُونَ

because they are sure to return to their Lord (for reckoning)

وَالَّذِينَ

[23:62] And We tax not any person except according to his capacity, and with Us is a Record which speaks the truth, and they will not be wronged.

وَلَا نُكَلِّفُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا ۖ

And We tax not any person except according to his capacity

وَلَدَيْنَا كِتَابٌ يَنطِقُ بِالْحَقِّ ۚ

and with Us is a Record which speaks the truth

وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ

and they will not be wronged

بَلْ قُلُوبُهُمْ فِي غَمْرَةٍ مِّنْ هَٰذَا وَلَهُمْ أَعْمَالٌ مِّن دُونِ ذَٰلِكَ هُمْ لَهَا عَامِلُونَ ٦٣

[23:63] Nay, but their hearts are covered (blind) from understanding this (the Quran), and they have other (evil) deeds, besides, which they are doing.

بَلْ قُلُوبُهُمْ

Nay, but their hearts

فِي غَمْرَةٍ مِّنْ هَٰذَا

are covered (blind) from understanding this (the Quran)

وَلَهُمْ أَعْمَالٌ مِّن دُونِ ذَٰلِكَ

and they have other (evil) deeds, besides

هُمْ لَهَا عَامِلُونَ

which they are doing.

[23:64] Until, when We grasp those of them who lead a luxurious life with punishment, behold! They make humble invocation with a loud voice.

Indeed My Verses used to be recited to you

فَكُنتُمْ عَلَىٰ أَعْقَابِكُمْ تَنكِصُونَ

[23:68] Have they not pondered over the Word (of Allah, i.e. what is sent down to the Prophet SAW), or has there come to them what had not come to their fathers of old?

أَفَلَمْ يَدَّبَّرُوا

[23:70] Or say they: "There is madness in him?" Nay, but he brought them the truth [i.e. "(A) Tauhid: Worshipping Allah Alone in all aspects (B) The Quran (C) The religion of Islam,"] but most of them (the disbelievers) are averse to the truth.

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ بِهِ جِنَّةٌ ۚ

Or say they: 'There is madness in him?'

بَلْ جَاءَهُم بِالْحَقِّ

Nay, but he brought them the truth

وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ لِلْحَقِّ كَارِهُونَ

[23:71] And if the truth had been in accordance with their desires, verily, the heavens and the earth, and whosoever is therein would have been corrupted! Nay, We have brought them their reminder, but they turn away from their reminder.

وَلَوِ اتَّبَعَ الْحَقُّ أَهْوَاءَهُمْ

And if the truth had been in accordance with their desires,

لَفَسَدَتِ السَّمَاوَاتُ وَالْأَرْضُ وَمَن فِيهِنَّ ۚ

verily, the heavens and the earth, and whosoever is therein would have been corrupted!

بَلْ أَتَيْنَاهُم بِذِكْرِهِمْ

Nay, We have brought them their reminder,

فَهُمْ عَن ذِكْرِهِم مُّعْرِضُونَ

but they turn away from their reminder.

[23:72] Or is it that you (O Muhammad SAW) ask them for some wages? But the recompense of your Lord is better, and He is the Best of those who give sustenance.

أَمْ تَسْأَلُهُمْ خَرْجًا

Or is it that you (O Muhammad SAW) ask them for some wages?

فَخَرَاجُ رَبِّكَ خَيْرٌ ۖ

But the recompense of your Lord is better,

وَهُوَ خَيْرُ الرَّازِقِينَ

and He is the Best of those who give sustenance.

أَمْ

[23:73] And certainly, you (O Muhammad SAW) call them to a Straight Path (true religion Islamic Monotheism).

إِلَىٰ صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ

to a Straight Path (true religion Islamic Monotheism)

وَإِنَّكَ

[23:74] And verily, those who believe not in the Hereafter are indeed deviating far astray from the Path (true religion Islamic Monotheism).

وَإِنَّ الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْآخِرَةِ

And verily, those who believe not in the Hereafter

عَنِ الصِّرَاطِ

are indeed deviating

لَنَاكِبُونَ

far astray from the Path (true religion Islamic Monotheism)

وَإِنَّ

[23:75] And though We had mercy on them and removed the distress which is on them, still they would obstinately persist in their transgression, wandering blindly.

۞ وَلَوْ رَحِمْنَاهُمْ

And though We had mercy on them

وَكَشَفْنَا مَا بِهِم مِّن ضُرٍّ

and removed the distress which is on them

لَّلَجُّوا فِي طُغْيَانِهِمْ

still they would obstinately persist in their transgression

يَعْمَهُونَ

[23:76] And indeed We seized them with punishment, but they humbled not themselves to their Lord, nor did they invoke (Allah) with submission to Him.

وَلَقَدْ أَخَذْنَاهُم بِالْعَذَابِ

And indeed We seized them with punishment,

فَمَا اسْتَكَانُوا لِرَبِّهِمْ

but they humbled not themselves to their Lord,

وَمَا يَتَضَرَّعُونَ

nor did they invoke (Allah) with submission to Him.

وَلَقَدْ

[23:77] Until, when We open for them the gate of severe punishment, then lo! They will be plunged into destruction with deep regrets, sorrows and in despair.

حَتَّىٰ إِذَا فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِم

Until, when We open for them

بَابًا ذَا عَذَابٍ شَدِيدٍ

the gate of severe punishment,

إِذَا هُمْ فِيهِ مُبْلِسُونَ

then lo! They will be plunged into destruction with deep regrets, sorrows and in despair.

[23:78] It is He, Who has created for you (the sense of) hearing (ears), sight (eyes), and hearts (understanding). Little thanks you give.

وَهُوَ الَّذِي

has created for you

السَّمْعَ وَالْأَبْصَارَ وَالْأَفْئِدَةَ ۚ

(the sense of) hearing (ears), sight (eyes), and hearts (understanding)

قَلِيلًا مَّا تَشْكُرُونَ

Little thanks you give

[23:79] And it is He Who has created you on the earth, and to Him you shall be gathered back.

and to Him you shall be gathered back

[23:80] And it is He Who gives life and causes death, and His is the alternation of night and day. Will you not then understand?

وَهُوَ الَّذِي يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ

And it is He Who gives life and causes death,

وَلَهُ اخْتِلَافُ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ ۚ

and His is the alternation of night and day.

أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ

Will you not then understand?

وَهُوَ

When we are dead and have become dust and bones,

أَإِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ

shall we be resurrected indeed?

[23:83] "Verily, this we have been promised, we and our fathers before (us)! This is only the tales of the ancients!"

we and our fathers before (us)

هَٰذَا مِن قَبْلُ

This is only

إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا

[23:84] Say: "Whose is the earth and whosoever is therein? If you know!"

Say: 'Will you not then remember?'

وَرَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ

[23:87] They will say: "Allah." Say: "Will you not then fear Allah (believe in His Oneness, obey Him, believe in the Resurrection and Recompense for each and every good or bad deed)."

سَيَقُولُونَ لِلَّهِ ۚ

They will say: 'Allah.'

قُلْ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ

Say: 'Will you not then fear Allah (believe in His Oneness, obey Him, believe in the Resurrection and Recompense for each and every good or bad deed).'

[23:88] Say "In Whose Hand is the sovereignty of everything (i.e. treasures of each and everything)? And He protects (all), while against Whom there is no protector, (i.e. if Allah saves anyone none can punish or harm him, and if Allah punishes or harms anyone none can save him), if you know." [Tafsir Al-Qurtubi, Vol. 12, Page 145]

قُلْ مَن بِيَدِهِ مَلَكُوتُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ

Say 'In Whose Hand is the sovereignty of everything (i.e. treasures of each and everything)?'

وَهُوَ يُجِيرُ

And He protects (all),

وَلَا يُجَارُ عَلَيْهِ

while against Whom there is no protector,

إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ

(i.e. if Allah saves anyone none can punish or harm him, and if Allah punishes or harms anyone none can save him), if you know.

[23:89] They will say: "(All that belongs) to Allah." Say: "How then are you deceived and turn away from the truth?"

(They will say) to Allah.

قُلْ فَأَنَّىٰ تُسْحَرُونَ

Say: 'How then are you deceived and turn away from the truth?'

[23:90] Nay, but We have brought them the truth (Islamic Monotheism), and verily, they (disbelievers) are liars.

مَا اتَّخَذَ اللَّهُ مِن وَلَدٍ وَمَا كَانَ مَعَهُ مِنْ إِلَٰهٍ ۚ إِذًا لَّذَهَبَ كُلُّ إِلَٰهٍ بِمَا خَلَقَ وَلَعَلَا بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ ۚ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ ٩١

[23:91] No son (or offspring or children) did Allah beget, nor is there any ilah (god) along with Him; (if there had been many gods), behold, each god would have taken away what he had created, and some would have tried to overcome others! Glorified be Allah above all that they attribute to Him!

مَا اتَّخَذَ اللَّهُ مِن وَلَدٍ

No son (or offspring or children) did Allah beget,

وَمَا كَانَ مَعَهُ مِنْ إِلَٰهٍ ۚ

nor is there any ilah (god) along with Him;

إِذًا لَّذَهَبَ كُلُّ إِلَٰهٍ بِمَا خَلَقَ

(if there had been many gods), behold, each god would have taken away what he had created,

وَلَعَلَا بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ ۚ

and some would have tried to overcome others!

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ

Glorified be Allah above all that they attribute to Him!

All-Knower of the unseen and the seen!

فَتَعَالَىٰ

Exalted be He

عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ

over all that they associate as partners to Him!

[23:93] Say (O Muhammad SAW): " My Lord! If You would show me that with which they are threatened (torment),

[23:94] "My Lord! Then (save me from Your Punishment), and put me not amongst the people who are the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doing)."

فِي الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ

amongst the people who are the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doing).

[23:96] Repel evil with that which is better. We are Best-Acquainted with the things they utter.

ادْفَعْ بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ السَّيِّئَةَ ۚ

Repel evil with that which is better.

نَحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَصِفُونَ

We are Best-Acquainted with the things they utter.

from the whisperings (suggestions) of the Shayatin (devils).

قَالَ رَبِّ ارْجِعُونِ

he says: 'My Lord! Send me back

[23:100] "So that I may do good in that which I have left behind!" No! It is but a word that he speaks, and behind them is Barzakh (a barrier) until the Day when they will be resurrected.

لَعَلِّي أَعْمَلُ صَالِحًا فِيمَا تَرَكْتُ ۚ

So that I may do good in that which I have left behind!

كَلَّا ۚ

No!

إِنَّهَا كَلِمَةٌ هُوَ قَائِلُهَا ۖ

It is but a word that he speaks,

وَمِن وَرَائِهِم بَرْزَخٌ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ

and behind them is Barzakh (a barrier) until the Day when they will be resurrected.

[23:101] Then, when the Trumpet is blown, there will be no kinship among them that Day, nor will they ask of one another.

فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ

Then, when the Trumpet is blown,

فَلَا أَنسَابَ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ

there will be no kinship among them that Day,

وَلَا يَتَسَاءَلُونَ

nor will they ask of one another.

فَإِذَا

[23:102] Then, those whose scales (of good deeds) are heavy, - these, they are the successful.

فَمَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَازِينُهُ

Then, those whose scales (of good deeds) are heavy,

فَأُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ

these, they are the successful.

فَمَن

وَمَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَازِينُهُ فَأُولَٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ خَسِرُوا أَنفُسَهُمْ فِي جَهَنَّمَ خَالِدُونَ ١٠٣

[23:103] And those whose scales (of good deeds) are light, they are those who lose their ownselves, in Hell will they abide.

وَمَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَازِينُهُ

And those whose scales (of good deeds) are light

فَأُولَٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ

they are those who

خَسِرُوا أَنفُسَهُمْ

lose their own selves

فِي جَهَنَّمَ خَالِدُونَ

in Hell will they abide

وَمَنْ

[23:104] The Fire will burn their faces, and therein they will grin, with displaced lips (disfigured).

أَلَمْ تَكُنْ آيَاتِي

Were not My Verses

تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْكُمْ

(this Quran) recited to you

فَكُنتُم بِهَا

and then you used to

تُكَذِّبُونَ

deny them?

أَلَمْ

[23:106] They will say: "Our Lord! Our wretchedness overcame us, and we were (an) erring people.

[23:107] "Our Lord! Bring us out of this; if ever we return (to evil), then indeed we shall be Zalimun: (polytheists, oppressors, unjust, and wrong-doers, etc.)."

أَخْرِجْنَا مِنْهَا

Bring us out of this;

فَإِنْ عُدْنَا

if ever we return (to evil),

فَإِنَّا ظَالِمُونَ

then indeed we shall be Zalimun: (polytheists, oppressors, unjust, and wrong-doers, etc.)

[23:108] He (Allah) will say: "Remain you in it with ignominy! And speak you not to Me!"

[23:109] Verily! There was a party of My slaves, who used to say: "Our Lord! We believe, so forgive us, and have mercy on us, for You are the Best of all who show mercy!"

إِنَّهُ كَانَ فَرِيقٌ مِّنْ عِبَادِي

Verily! There was a party of My slaves,

يَقُولُونَ

who used to say:

رَبَّنَا آمَنَّا

"Our Lord! We believe,

فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَا

so forgive us, and have mercy on us,

وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ الرَّاحِمِينَ

for You are the Best of all who show mercy!"

[23:110] But you took them for a laughingstock, so much so that they made you forget My Remembrance while you used to laugh at them!

فَاتَّخَذْتُمُوهُمْ سِخْرِيًّا

But you took them for a laughingstock

حَتَّىٰ أَنسَوْكُمْ ذِكْرِي

so much so that they made you forget My Remembrance

وَكُنتُم مِّنْهُمْ تَضْحَكُونَ

while you used to laugh at them!

فَاتَّخَذْتُمُوهُمْ

[23:111] Verily! I have rewarded them this Day for their patience, they are indeed the ones that are successful.

إِنِّي جَزَيْتُهُمُ الْيَوْمَ

بِمَا صَبَرُوا

for their patience

أَنَّهُمْ هُمُ الْفَائِزُونَ

they are indeed the ones that are successful

Ask of those who keep account.

لَّوْ أَنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ

[23:115] "Did you think that We had created you in play (without any purpose), and that you would not be brought back to Us?"

that We had created you

عَبَثًا

in play (without any purpose)

وَأَنَّكُمْ

and that you

إِلَيْنَا

would not be brought back to Us

[23:116] So Exalted be Allah, the True King, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), the Lord of the Supreme Throne!

فَتَعَالَى اللَّهُ

So Exalted be Allah,

الْمَلِكُ الْحَقُّ ۖ

the True King,

لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ

La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He),

رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْكَرِيمِ

the Lord of the Supreme Throne!

فَتَعَالَى

[23:117] And whoever invokes (or worships), besides Allah, any other ilah (god), of whom he has no proof, then his reckoning is only with his Lord. Surely! Al-Kafirun (the disbelievers in Allah and in the Oneness of Allah, polytheists, pagans, idolaters, etc.) will not be successful.

وَمَن يَدْعُ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا آخَرَ

And whoever invokes (or worships), besides Allah, any other ilah (god),

لَا بُرْهَانَ لَهُ بِهِ

of whom he has no proof,

فَإِنَّمَا حِسَابُهُ عِندَ رَبِّهِ ۚ

then his reckoning is only with his Lord.

Surely! Al-Kafirun (the disbelievers in Allah and in the Oneness of Allah, polytheists, pagans, idolaters, etc.) will not be successful.

Forgive and have mercy,

وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ الرَّاحِمِينَ
