طس ۚ تِلْكَ آيَاتُ الْقُرْآنِ وَكِتَابٍ مُّبِينٍ ١

[27:1] Ta-Sin. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. These are the Verses of the Quran, and (it is) a Book (that makes things) clear;

تِلْكَ آيَاتُ الْقُرْآنِ

These are the Verses of the Quran

وَكِتَابٍ مُّبِينٍ

and (it is) a Book (that makes things) clear

[27:2] A guide (to the Right Path); and glad tidings for the believers [who believe in the Oneness of Allah (i.e. Islamic Monotheism)].

and glad tidings

لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

for the believers [who believe in the Oneness of Allah (i.e. Islamic Monotheism)]

الَّذِينَ يُقِيمُونَ الصَّلَاةَ وَيُؤْتُونَ الزَّكَاةَ وَهُم بِالْآخِرَةِ هُمْ يُوقِنُونَ ٣

[27:3] Those who perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat) and give Zakat and they believe with certainty in the Hereafter (resurrection, recompense of their good and bad deeds, Paradise and Hell, etc.).

الَّذِينَ يُقِيمُونَ الصَّلَاةَ

Those who perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat)

وَيُؤْتُونَ الزَّكَاةَ

and give Zakat

وَهُم بِالْآخِرَةِ هُمْ يُوقِنُونَ

and they believe with certainty in the Hereafter (resurrection, recompense of their good and bad deeds, Paradise and Hell, etc.)

الَّذِينَ

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْآخِرَةِ زَيَّنَّا لَهُمْ أَعْمَالَهُمْ فَهُمْ يَعْمَهُونَ ٤

[27:4] Verily, those who believe not in the Hereafter, We have made their deeds fair-seeming to them, so they wander about blindly.

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْآخِرَةِ

Verily, those who believe not in the Hereafter,

زَيَّنَّا لَهُمْ أَعْمَالَهُمْ

We have made their deeds fair-seeming to them,

فَهُمْ يَعْمَهُونَ

so they wander about blindly.

[27:5] They are those for whom there will be an evil torment (in this world). And in the Hereafter they will be the greatest losers.

أُولَٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ

They are those

لَهُمْ سُوءُ الْعَذَابِ

for whom there will be an evil torment

وَهُمْ فِي الْآخِرَةِ

And in the Hereafter

هُمُ الْأَخْسَرُونَ

they will be the greatest losers

[27:6] And verily, you (O Muhammad SAW) are receiving the Quran from the One, All-Wise, All-Knowing.

وَإِنَّكَ

And verily, you (O Muhammad SAW)

لَتُلَقَّى الْقُرْآنَ

are receiving the Quran

مِن لَّدُنْ

from the One,

حَكِيمٍ عَلِيمٍ

All-Wise, All-Knowing.

وَإِنَّكَ

إِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِأَهْلِهِ إِنِّي آنَسْتُ نَارًا سَآتِيكُم مِّنْهَا بِخَبَرٍ أَوْ آتِيكُم بِشِهَابٍ قَبَسٍ لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَصْطَلُونَ ٧

[27:7] (Remember) when Musa (Moses) said to his household: "Verily! I have seen a fire, I will bring you from there some information, or I will bring you a burning brand, that you may warm yourselves."

إِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِأَهْلِهِ

when Musa (Moses) said to his household

إِنِّي آنَسْتُ نَارًا

Verily! I have seen a fire

سَآتِيكُم مِّنْهَا بِخَبَرٍ

I will bring you from there some information

أَوْ آتِيكُم بِشِهَابٍ قَبَسٍ

or I will bring you a burning brand

لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَصْطَلُونَ

that you may warm yourselves

فَلَمَّا جَاءَهَا نُودِيَ أَن بُورِكَ مَن فِي النَّارِ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهَا وَسُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ٨

[27:8] But when he came to it, he was called: "Blessed is whosoever is in the fire, and whosoever is round about it! And glorified be Allah, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists).

فَلَمَّا جَاءَهَا

But when he came to it,

نُودِيَ أَن

he was called:

بُورِكَ مَن فِي النَّارِ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهَا

Blessed is whosoever is in the fire, and whosoever is round about it!

وَسُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

And glorified be Allah, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists).

فَلَمَّا

[27:9] "O Musa (Moses)! Verily! It is I, Allah, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.

يَا مُوسَىٰ إِنَّهُ

O Musa (Moses)!

أَنَا اللَّهُ الْعَزِيزُ

Verily! It is I, Allah,

الْحَكِيمُ

the All-Mighty,

يَا مُوسَىٰ

وَأَلْقِ عَصَاكَ ۚ فَلَمَّا رَآهَا تَهْتَزُّ كَأَنَّهَا جَانٌّ وَلَّىٰ مُدْبِرًا وَلَمْ يُعَقِّبْ ۚ يَا مُوسَىٰ لَا تَخَفْ إِنِّي لَا يَخَافُ لَدَيَّ الْمُرْسَلُونَ ١٠

[27:10] "And throw down your stick!" But when he saw it moving as if it were a snake, he turned in flight, and did not look back. (It was said): "O Musa (Moses)! Fear not, verily! The Messengers fear not in front of Me.

وَأَلْقِ عَصَاكَ ۚ

And throw down your stick!

فَلَمَّا رَآهَا تَهْتَزُّ كَأَنَّهَا جَانٌّ

But when he saw it moving as if it were a snake,

وَلَّىٰ مُدْبِرًا وَلَمْ يُعَقِّبْ ۚ

he turned in flight, and did not look back.

يَا مُوسَىٰ لَا تَخَفْ إِنِّي

(It was said): 'O Musa (Moses)! Fear not,

لَا يَخَافُ لَدَيَّ الْمُرْسَلُونَ

verily! The Messengers fear not in front of Me.

وَأَلْقِ

[27:11] "Except him who has done wrong and afterwards has changed evil for good, then surely, I am Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

إِلَّا مَن ظَلَمَ

Except him who has done wrong

ثُمَّ بَدَّلَ حُسْنًا بَعْدَ سُوءٍ

and afterwards has changed evil for good

فَإِنِّي غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

then surely, I am Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful

وَأَدْخِلْ يَدَكَ فِي جَيْبِكَ تَخْرُجْ بَيْضَاءَ مِنْ غَيْرِ سُوءٍ ۖ فِي تِسْعِ آيَاتٍ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَقَوْمِهِ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَوْمًا فَاسِقِينَ ١٢

[27:12] "And put your hand into your bosom, it will come forth white without hurt. (These are) among the nine signs (you will take) to Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and his people, they are a people who are the Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah).

وَأَدْخِلْ يَدَكَ فِي جَيْبِكَ

And put your hand into your bosom,

تَخْرُجْ بَيْضَاءَ مِنْ غَيْرِ سُوءٍ ۖ

it will come forth white without hurt.

فِي تِسْعِ آيَاتٍ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَقَوْمِهِ ۚ

(These are) among the nine signs (you will take) to Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and his people,

إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَوْمًا فَاسِقِينَ

they are a people who are the Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah).

وَأَدْخِلْ

[27:13] But when Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) came to them, clear to see, they said: "This is a manifest magic."

فَلَمَّا جَاءَتْهُمْ

But when came to them

آيَاتُنَا مُبْصِرَةً

Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) clear to see

قَالُوا

they said

هَٰذَا سِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ

This is a manifest magic

فَلَمَّا

وَجَحَدُوا بِهَا وَاسْتَيْقَنَتْهَا أَنفُسُهُمْ ظُلْمًا وَعُلُوًّا ۚ فَانظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُفْسِدِينَ ١٤

[27:14] And they belied them (those Ayat) wrongfully and arrogantly, though their ownselves were convinced thereof [i.e. those (Ayat) are from Allah, and Musa (Moses) is the Messenger of Allah in truth, but they disliked to obey Musa (Moses), and hated to believe in his Message of Monotheism]. So see what was the end of the Mufsidun (disbelievers, disobedient to Allah, evil-doers, liars.).

وَجَحَدُوا بِهَا

And they belied them (those Ayat)

وَاسْتَيْقَنَتْهَا أَنفُسُهُمْ

though their ownselves were convinced thereof

ظُلْمًا وَعُلُوًّا ۚ

wrongfully and arrogantly

فَانظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُفْسِدِينَ

So see what was the end of the Mufsidun (disbelievers, disobedient to Allah, evil-doers, liars.)

وَجَحَدُوا

وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا دَاوُودَ وَسُلَيْمَانَ عِلْمًا ۖ وَقَالَا الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي فَضَّلَنَا عَلَىٰ كَثِيرٍ مِّنْ عِبَادِهِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ١٥

[27:15] And indeed We gave knowledge to Dawud (David) and Sulaiman (Solomon), and they both said: "All the praises and thanks be to Allah, Who has preferred us above many of His believing slaves!"

وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا

And indeed We gave

دَاوُودَ وَسُلَيْمَانَ

knowledge to Dawud (David) and Sulaiman (Solomon),

عِلْمًا ۖ

and they both said:

وَقَالَا الْحَمْدُ

"All the praises and thanks be to Allah,

لِلَّهِ الَّذِي

Who has preferred us

فَضَّلَنَا عَلَىٰ كَثِيرٍ مِّنْ عِبَادِهِ

above many of His believing slaves!"

وَلَقَدْ

وَوَرِثَ سُلَيْمَانُ دَاوُودَ ۖ وَقَالَ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ عُلِّمْنَا مَنطِقَ الطَّيْرِ وَأُوتِينَا مِن كُلِّ شَيْءٍ ۖ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ الْفَضْلُ الْمُبِينُ ١٦

[27:16] And Sulaiman (Solomon) inherited (the knowledge of) Dawud (David). He said: "O mankind! We have been taught the language of birds, and on us have been bestowed all things. This, verily, is an evident grace (from Allah)."

وَوَرِثَ سُلَيْمَانُ دَاوُودَ ۖ

And Sulaiman (Solomon) inherited (the knowledge of) Dawud (David).

وَقَالَ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ عُلِّمْنَا

He said: 'O mankind!'

مَنطِقَ الطَّيْرِ وَأُوتِينَا

We have been taught the language of birds,

مِن كُلِّ شَيْءٍ ۖ إِنَّ

and on us have been bestowed all things.

هَٰذَا لَهُوَ الْفَضْلُ الْمُبِينُ

This, verily, is an evident grace (from Allah).

وَوَرِثَ

وَحُشِرَ لِسُلَيْمَانَ جُنُودُهُ مِنَ الْجِنِّ وَالْإِنسِ وَالطَّيْرِ فَهُمْ يُوزَعُونَ ١٧

[27:17] And there were gathered before Sulaiman (Solomon) his hosts of jinns and men, and birds, and they all were set in battle order (marching forwards).

وَحُشِرَ لِسُلَيْمَانَ

And there were gathered before Sulaiman (Solomon)

جُنُودُهُ مِنَ الْجِنِّ وَالْإِنسِ وَالطَّيْرِ

his hosts of jinns and men, and birds

فَهُمْ يُوزَعُونَ

[27:18] Till, when they came to the valley of the ants, one of the ants said: "O ants! Enter your dwellings, lest Sulaiman (Solomon) and his hosts crush you, while they perceive not."

حَتَّىٰ إِذَا أَتَوْا عَلَىٰ وَادِ النَّمْلِ

Till, when they came to the valley of the ants,

قَالَتْ نَمْلَةٌ

one of the ants said:

يَا أَيُّهَا النَّمْلُ ادْخُلُوا

"O ants!

مَسَاكِنَكُمْ لَا

Enter your dwellings,

يَحْطِمَنَّكُمْ سُلَيْمَانُ وَجُنُودُهُ وَهُمْ

lest Sulaiman (Solomon) and his hosts crush you,

لَا يَشْعُرُونَ

while they perceive not.

[27:19] So he [Sulaiman (Solomon)] smiled, amused at her speech and said: "My Lord! Inspire and bestow upon me the power and ability that I may be grateful for Your Favours which You have bestowed on me and on my parents, and that I may do righteous good deeds that will please You, and admit me by Your Mercy among Your righteous slaves."

فَتَبَسَّمَ ضَاحِكًا مِّن قَوْلِهَا

So he [Sulaiman (Solomon)] smiled, amused at her speech

وَقَالَ رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِي

and said: 'My Lord! Inspire and bestow upon me

أَنْ أَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ الَّتِي أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَىٰ وَالِدَيَّ

the power and ability that I may be grateful for Your Favours which You have bestowed on me and on my parents

وَأَنْ أَعْمَلَ صَالِحًا تَرْضَاهُ

and that I may do righteous good deeds that will please You

وَأَدْخِلْنِي بِرَحْمَتِكَ فِي عِبَادِكَ الصَّالِحِينَ

and admit me by Your Mercy among Your righteous slaves.

فَتَبَسَّمَ

[27:20] He inspected the birds, and said: "What is the matter that I see not the hoopoe? Or is he among the absentees?

What is the matter that I see not the hoopoe?

فَقَالَ

he (came up and) said:

أَحَطتُ بِمَا لَمْ تُحِطْ بِهِ

I have grasped (the knowledge of a thing) which you have not grasped

وَجِئْتُكَ مِن سَبَإٍ

and I have come to you from Saba' (Sheba)

بِنَبَإٍ يَقِينٍ

with true news.

[27:23] "I found a woman ruling over them, and she has been given all things that could be possessed by any ruler of the earth, and she has a great throne.

إِنِّي وَجَدتُّ

وَأُوتِيَتْ مِن كُلِّ شَيْءٍ

وَلَهَا عَرْشٌ عَظِيمٌ

[27:24] "I found her and her people worshipping the sun instead of Allah, and Shaitan (Satan) has made their deeds fair-seeming to them, and has barred them from (Allah's) Way, so they have no guidance,"

وَجَدتُّهَا وَقَوْمَهَا

I found her and her people

يَسْجُدُونَ لِلشَّمْسِ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ

worshipping the sun instead of Allah

وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ أَعْمَالَهُمْ

and Shaitan (Satan) has made their deeds fair-seeming to them

فَصَدَّهُمْ عَنِ السَّبِيلِ

and has barred them from (Allah's) Way

فَهُمْ لَا يَهْتَدُونَ

so they have no guidance

وَجَدتُّهَا

[27:25] Al-La (this word has two interpretations) (A) [As Shaitan (Satan) has barred them from Allah's Way] so that they do not worship (prostrate before) Allah, or (B) So that they may worship (prostrate before) Allah, Who brings to light what is hidden in the heavens and the earth, and knows what you conceal and what you reveal. [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 19, Page 149]

أَلَّا يَسْجُدُوا لِلَّهِ

so that they do not worship (prostrate before) Allah,

الَّذِي يُخْرِجُ الْخَبْءَ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ

Who brings to light what is hidden in the heavens and the earth,

وَيَعْلَمُ مَا تُخْفُونَ وَمَا تُعْلِنُونَ

and knows what you conceal and what you reveal.

ثُمَّ تَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ

then draw back from them

فَانظُرْ مَاذَا يَرْجِعُونَ

and see what (answer) they return

Verily! It is from Sulaiman (Solomon),

وَإِنَّهُ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

and verily! It (reads): In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful;

إِنَّهُ

Advise me in (this) case of mine.

كُنتُ قَاطِعَةً أَمْرًا حَتَّىٰ

I decide no case

تَشْهَدُونِ

till you are present with me.

[27:33] They said: "We have great strength, and great ability for war, but it is for you to command; so think over what you will command."

They said:

نَحْنُ أُولُو قُوَّةٍ

We have great strength,

وَأُولُو بَأْسٍ شَدِيدٍ

and great ability for war,

وَالْأَمْرُ إِلَيْكِ

but it is for you to command;

فَانظُرِي مَاذَا تَأْمُرِينَ

so think over what you will command.

قَالَتْ إِنَّ الْمُلُوكَ إِذَا دَخَلُوا قَرْيَةً أَفْسَدُوهَا وَجَعَلُوا أَعِزَّةَ أَهْلِهَا أَذِلَّةً ۖ وَكَذَٰلِكَ يَفْعَلُونَ ٣٤

[27:34] She said: "Verily! Kings, when they enter a town (country), they despoil it, and make the most honourable amongst its people low. And thus they do.

قَالَتْ إِنَّ

Verily! Kings,

الْمُلُوكَ إِذَا دَخَلُوا

when they enter a town (country),

قَرْيَةً

they despoil it,

أَفْسَدُوهَا وَجَعَلُوا أَعِزَّةَ أَهْلِهَا

and make the most honourable amongst its people low.

أَذِلَّةً ۖ وَكَذَٰلِكَ

And thus they do.

[27:35] "But verily! I am going to send him a present, and see with what (answer) the messengers return."

وَإِنِّي مُرْسِلَةٌ إِلَيْهِم بِهَدِيَّةٍ

But verily! I am going to send him a present,

فَنَاظِرَةٌ بِمَ يَرْجِعُ الْمُرْسَلُونَ

and see with what (answer) the messengers return.

فَلَمَّا جَاءَ سُلَيْمَانَ قَالَ أَتُمِدُّونَنِ بِمَالٍ فَمَا آتَانِيَ اللَّهُ خَيْرٌ مِّمَّا آتَاكُم بَلْ أَنتُم بِهَدِيَّتِكُمْ تَفْرَحُونَ ٣٦

[27:36] So when (the messengers with the present) came to Sulaiman (Solomon), he said: "Will you help me in wealth? What Allah has given me is better than that which He has given you! Nay, you rejoice in your gift!"

فَلَمَّا جَاءَ سُلَيْمَانَ

So when (the messengers with the present) came to Sulaiman (Solomon),

قَالَ أَتُمِدُّونَنِ بِمَالٍ

he said: 'Will you help me in wealth?

فَمَا آتَانِيَ اللَّهُ خَيْرٌ مِّمَّا آتَاكُم

What Allah has given me is better than that which He has given you!

بَلْ أَنتُم بِهَدِيَّتِكُمْ تَفْرَحُونَ

Nay, you rejoice in your gift!

فَلَمَّا

[27:37] [Then Sulaiman (Solomon) said to the chief of her messengers who brought the present]: "Go back to them. We verily shall come to them with hosts that they cannot resist, and we shall drive them out from there in disgrace, and they will be abased."

ارْجِعْ إِلَيْهِمْ

Go back to them.

فَلَنَأْتِيَنَّهُم بِجُنُودٍ

We verily shall come to them with hosts

لَّا قِبَلَ لَهُم بِهَا

that they cannot resist,

وَلَنُخْرِجَنَّهُم مِّنْهَا

and we shall drive them out from there

أَذِلَّةً

in disgrace,

وَهُمْ صَاغِرُونَ

and they will be abased.

[27:38] He said: "O chiefs! Which of you can bring me her throne before they come to me surrendering themselves in obedience?"

قَالَ

يَا أَيُّهَا الْمَلَأُ أَيُّكُمْ

O chiefs!

Which of you

بِعَرْشِهَا قَبْلَ

[27:39] An Ifrit (strong) from the jinns said: "I will bring it to you before you rise from your place (council). And verily, I am indeed strong, and trustworthy for such work."

قَالَ عِفْرِيتٌ مِّنَ الْجِنِّ

An Ifrit (strong) from the jinns said:

أَنَا آتِيكَ بِهِ

I will bring it to you

قَبْلَ أَن تَقُومَ مِن مَّقَامِكَ ۖ

before you rise from your place (council).

وَإِنِّي عَلَيْهِ لَقَوِيٌّ أَمِينٌ

And verily, I am indeed strong, and trustworthy for such work.

قَالَ الَّذِي عِندَهُ عِلْمٌ مِّنَ الْكِتَابِ أَنَا آتِيكَ بِهِ قَبْلَ أَن يَرْتَدَّ إِلَيْكَ طَرْفُكَ ۚ فَلَمَّا رَآهُ مُسْتَقِرًّا عِندَهُ قَالَ هَٰذَا مِن فَضْلِ رَبِّي لِيَبْلُوَنِي أَأَشْكُرُ أَمْ أَكْفُرُ ۖ وَمَن شَكَرَ فَإِنَّمَا يَشْكُرُ لِنَفْسِهِ ۖ وَمَن كَفَرَ فَإِنَّ رَبِّي غَنِيٌّ كَرِيمٌ ٤٠

[27:40] One with whom was knowledge of the Scripture said: "I will bring it to you within the twinkling of an eye!" then when [Sulaiman (Solomon)] saw it placed before him, he said: "This is by the Grace of my Lord to test me whether I am grateful or ungrateful! And whoever is grateful, truly, his gratitude is for (the good of) his ownself, and whoever is ungrateful, (he is ungrateful only for the loss of his ownself). Certainly! My Lord is Rich (Free of all wants), Bountiful."

قَالَ الَّذِي عِندَهُ عِلْمٌ مِّنَ الْكِتَابِ

One with whom was knowledge of the Scripture said:

أَنَا آتِيكَ بِهِ قَبْلَ أَن يَرْتَدَّ إِلَيْكَ طَرْفُكَ ۚ

"I will bring it to you within the twinkling of an eye!"

فَلَمَّا رَآهُ مُسْتَقِرًّا عِندَهُ

then when [Sulaiman (Solomon)] saw it placed before him,

قَالَ هَٰذَا مِن فَضْلِ رَبِّي

he said: "This is by the Grace of my Lord

لِيَبْلُوَنِي أَأَشْكُرُ أَمْ أَكْفُرُ ۖ

to test me whether I am grateful or ungrateful!"

وَمَن شَكَرَ فَإِنَّمَا يَشْكُرُ لِنَفْسِهِ ۖ

And whoever is grateful, truly, his gratitude is for (the good of) his ownself,

وَمَن كَفَرَ فَإِنَّ رَبِّي غَنِيٌّ كَرِيمٌ

and whoever is ungrateful, (he is ungrateful only for the loss of his ownself). Certainly! My Lord is Rich (Free of all wants), Bountiful.

[27:41] He said: "Disguise her throne for her that we may see whether she will be guided (to recognise her throne), or she will be one of those not guided."

[27:42] So when she came, it was said (to her): "Is your throne like this?" She said: "(It is) as though it were the very same." And [Sulaiman (Solomon) said]: "Knowledge was bestowed on us before her, and we were submitted to Allah (in Islam as Muslims before her)."

فَلَمَّا جَاءَتْ

So when she came,

قِيلَ أَهَٰكَذَا عَرْشُكِ ۖ

it was said (to her): 'Is your throne like this?'

قَالَتْ كَأَنَّهُ هُوَ ۚ

She said: '(It is) as though it were the very same.'

وَأُوتِينَا الْعِلْمَ مِن قَبْلِهَا

And [Sulaiman (Solomon) said]: 'Knowledge was bestowed on us before her,'

وَكُنَّا مُسْلِمِينَ

and we were submitted to Allah (in Islam as Muslims before her).

[27:43] And that which she used to worship besides Allah has prevented her (from Islam), for she was of a disbelieving people.

وَصَدَّهَا مَا كَانَت تَّعْبُدُ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ ۖ

And that which she used to worship besides Allah has prevented her

إِنَّهَا كَانَتْ مِن قَوْمٍ كَافِرِينَ

for she was of a disbelieving people.

قِيلَ لَهَا ادْخُلِي الصَّرْحَ ۖ فَلَمَّا رَأَتْهُ حَسِبَتْهُ لُجَّةً وَكَشَفَتْ عَن سَاقَيْهَا ۚ قَالَ إِنَّهُ صَرْحٌ مُّمَرَّدٌ مِّن قَوَارِيرَ ۗ قَالَتْ رَبِّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي وَأَسْلَمْتُ مَعَ سُلَيْمَانَ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ٤٤

[27:44] It was said to her: "Enter As-Sarh" [(a glass surface with water underneath it) or a palace], but when she saw it, she thought it was a pool, and she (tucked up her clothes) uncovering her legs, Sulaiman (Solomon) said: "Verily, it is Sarh [(a glass surface with water underneath it) or a palace] paved smooth with slab of glass." She said: "My Lord! Verily, I have wronged myself, and I submit (in Islam, together with Sulaiman (Solomon), to Allah, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)."

قِيلَ لَهَا ادْخُلِي الصَّرْحَ ۖ

It was said to her: 'Enter As-Sarh'

فَلَمَّا رَأَتْهُ حَسِبَتْهُ لُجَّةً

but when she saw it, she thought it was a pool

وَكَشَفَتْ عَن سَاقَيْهَا ۚ

and she (tucked up her clothes) uncovering her legs

قَالَ إِنَّهُ صَرْحٌ مُّمَرَّدٌ مِّن قَوَارِيرَ ۗ

Sulaiman (Solomon) said: 'Verily, it is Sarh [(a glass surface with water underneath it) or a palace] paved smooth with slab of glass.'

قَالَتْ رَبِّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي

She said: 'My Lord! Verily, I have wronged myself'

وَأَسْلَمْتُ مَعَ سُلَيْمَانَ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

and I submit (in Islam, together with Sulaiman (Solomon), to Allah, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists).

[27:45] And indeed We sent to Thamud their brother Salih (Saleh), saying: "Worship Allah (Alone and none else). Then look! They became two parties (believers and disbelievers) quarreling with each other."

وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا إِلَىٰ ثَمُودَ

And indeed We sent to Thamud

أَخَاهُمْ صَالِحًا

their brother Salih (Saleh)

أَنِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ

saying: 'Worship Allah (Alone and none else)'

فَإِذَا هُمْ فَرِيقَانِ

Then look! They became two parties

يَخْتَصِمُونَ

(believers and disbelievers) quarreling with each other.

وَلَقَدْ

[27:46] He said: "O my people! Why do you seek to hasten the evil (torment) before the good (Allah's Mercy)? Why seek you not the Forgiveness of Allah, that you may receive mercy?"

قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ لِمَ

He said: 'O my people!'

تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ بِالسَّيِّئَةِ قَبْلَ

Why do you seek to hasten the evil (torment)

الْحَسَنَةِ ۖ لَوْلَا

before the good (Allah's Mercy)?

تَسْتَغْفِرُونَ اللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ

Why seek you not the Forgiveness of Allah,

تُرْحَمُونَ

that you may receive mercy?

قَالَ

[27:47] They said: "We augur ill omen from you and those with you." He said: "Your ill omen is with Allah; nay, but you are a people that are being tested."

قَالُوا اطَّيَّرْنَا بِكَ وَبِمَن مَّعَكَ ۚ

They said: 'We augur ill omen from you and those with you.'

قَالَ طَائِرُكُمْ عِندَ اللَّهِ ۖ

He said: 'Your ill omen is with Allah;'

بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ تُفْتَنُونَ

nay, but you are a people that are being tested.

[27:48] And there were in the city nine men (from the sons of their chiefs), who made mischief in the land, and would not reform.

وَكَانَ فِي الْمَدِينَةِ

يُفْسِدُونَ فِي الْأَرْضِ

[27:49] They said: "Swear one to another by Allah that we shall make a secret night attack on him and his household, and afterwards we will surely say to his near relatives: 'We witnessed not the destruction of his household, and verily! We are telling the truth.'"

قَالُوا تَقَاسَمُوا بِاللَّهِ

They said: 'Swear one to another by Allah'

لَنُبَيِّتَنَّهُ وَأَهْلَهُ

that we shall make a secret night attack on him and his household,

ثُمَّ لَنَقُولَنَّ لِوَلِيِّهِ

and afterwards we will surely say to his near relatives:

مَا شَهِدْنَا مَهْلِكَ أَهْلِهِ

'We witnessed not the destruction of his household,

وَإِنَّا لَصَادِقُونَ

and verily! We are telling the truth.'

[27:50] So they plotted a plot, and We planned a plan, while they perceived not.

[27:51] Then see how was the end of their plot! Verily! We destroyed them and their nation, all together.

فَانظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ مَكْرِهِمْ

Then see how was the end of their plot!

أَنَّا دَمَّرْنَاهُمْ وَقَوْمَهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ

Verily! We destroyed them and their nation, all together.

[27:52] These are their houses in utter ruin, for they did wrong. Verily, in this is indeed an Ayah (a lesson or a sign) for people who know.

إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ

Verily, in this

لَآيَةً

for people who know.

[27:53] And We saved those who believed, and used to fear Allah, and keep their duty to Him.

[27:54] And (remember) Lout (Lot)! When he said to his people. Do you commit Al-Fahishah (evil, great sin, every kind of unlawful sexual intercourse, sodomy, etc.) while you see (one another doing evil without any screen, etc.)?"

وَلُوطًا

And (remember) Lout (Lot)!

إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِ

When he said to his people.

أَتَأْتُونَ الْفَاحِشَةَ

[27:55] "Do you approach men in your lusts rather than women? Nay, but you are a people who behave senselessly."

أَئِنَّكُمْ لَتَأْتُونَ

الرِّجَالَ شَهْوَةً

men in your lusts

مِّن دُونِ النِّسَاءِ ۚ

rather than women?

بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ

Nay, but you are a people

[27:56] There was no other answer given by his people except that they said: "Drive out the family of Lout (Lot) from your city. Verily, these are men who want to be clean and pure!"

۞ فَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوْمِهِ إِلَّا أَن قَالُوا

There was no other answer given by his people except that they said:

أَخْرِجُوا آلَ لُوطٍ مِّن قَرْيَتِكُمْ ۖ

"Drive out the family of Lout (Lot) from your city.

إِنَّهُمْ أُنَاسٌ يَتَطَهَّرُونَ

Verily, these are men who want to be clean and pure!"

[27:59] Say (O Muhammad SAW): "Praise and thanks be to Allah, and peace be on His slaves whom He has chosen (for His Message)! Is Allah better, or (all) that you ascribe as partners (to Him)?" (Of course, Allah is Better).

قُلِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ

Say (O Muhammad SAW): 'Praise and thanks be to Allah,'

وَسَلَامٌ عَلَىٰ عِبَادِهِ الَّذِينَ اصْطَفَىٰ ۗ

and peace be on His slaves whom He has chosen (for His Message)!

آللَّهُ خَيْرٌ أَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ

Is Allah better, or (all) that you ascribe as partners (to Him)? (Of course, Allah is Better)

قُلِ

[27:60] Is not He (better than your gods) Who created the heavens and the earth, and sends down for you water (rain) from the sky, whereby We cause to grow wonderful gardens full of beauty and delight? It is not in your ability to cause the growth of their trees. Is there any ilah (god) with Allah? Nay, but they are a people who ascribe equals (to Him)!

أَمَّنْ خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ

Is not He (better than your gods) Who created the heavens and the earth,

وَأَنزَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً

and sends down for you water (rain) from the sky,

فَأَنبَتْنَا بِهِ حَدَائِقَ ذَاتَ بَهْجَةٍ

whereby We cause to grow wonderful gardens full of beauty and delight?

مَّا كَانَ لَكُمْ أَن تُنبِتُوا شَجَرَهَا ۗ

It is not in your ability to cause the growth of their trees.

أَإِلَٰهٌ مَّعَ اللَّهِ ۚ

Is there any ilah (god) with Allah?

بَلْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ يَعْدِلُونَ

Nay, but they are a people who ascribe equals (to Him)!

أَمَّنْ

[27:61] Is not He (better than your gods) Who has made the earth as a fixed abode, and has placed rivers in its midst, and has placed firm mountains therein, and has set a barrier between the two seas (of salt and sweet water). Is there any ilah (god) with Allah? Nay, but most of them know not.

أَمَّن جَعَلَ الْأَرْضَ قَرَارًا

Is not He (better than your gods) Who has made the earth as a fixed abode,

وَجَعَلَ خِلَالَهَا أَنْهَارًا

and has placed rivers in its midst,

وَجَعَلَ لَهَا رَوَاسِيَ

and has placed firm mountains therein,

وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَ الْبَحْرَيْنِ حَاجِزًا ۗ

and has set a barrier between the two seas (of salt and sweet water).

أَإِلَٰهٌ مَّعَ اللَّهِ ۚ

Is there any ilah (god) with Allah?

بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

Nay, but most of them know not.

أَمَّن يُجِيبُ الْمُضْطَرَّ إِذَا دَعَاهُ وَيَكْشِفُ السُّوءَ وَيَجْعَلُكُمْ خُلَفَاءَ الْأَرْضِ ۗ أَإِلَٰهٌ مَّعَ اللَّهِ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَ ٦٢

[27:62] Is not He (better than your gods) Who responds to the distressed one, when he calls Him, and Who removes the evil, and makes you inheritors of the earth, generations after generations. Is there any ilah (god) with Allah? Little is that you remember!

أَمَّن يُجِيبُ الْمُضْطَرَّ إِذَا دَعَاهُ

Is not He (better than your gods) Who responds to the distressed one, when he calls Him,

وَيَكْشِفُ السُّوءَ

and Who removes the evil,

وَيَجْعَلُكُمْ خُلَفَاءَ الْأَرْضِ ۗ

Is there any ilah (god) with Allah?

قَلِيلًا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَ

Little is that you remember!

أَمَّن يَهْدِيكُمْ فِي ظُلُمَاتِ الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ وَمَن يُرْسِلُ الرِّيَاحَ بُشْرًا بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَحْمَتِهِ ۗ أَإِلَٰهٌ مَّعَ اللَّهِ ۚ تَعَالَى اللَّهُ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ ٦٣

[27:63] Is not He (better than your gods) Who guides you in the darkness of the land and the sea, and Who sends the winds as heralds of glad tidings, going before His Mercy (rain)? Is there any ilah (god) with Allah? High Exalted be Allah above all that they associate as partners (to Him)!

[27:64] Is not He (better than your so-called gods) Who originates creation, and shall thereafter repeat it, and Who provides for you from heaven and earth? Is there any ilah (god) with Allah? Say, "Bring forth your proofs, if you are truthful."

Is not He (better than your so-called gods) Who originates creation,

ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُ

and shall thereafter repeat it,

[27:65] Say: "None in the heavens and the earth knows the Ghaib (unseen) except Allah, nor can they perceive when they shall be resurrected."

قُل

Say:

لَّا يَعْلَمُ مَن فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ الْغَيْبَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ۚ

None in the heavens and the earth knows the Ghaib (unseen) except Allah,

وَمَا يَشْعُرُونَ

nor can they perceive

أَيَّانَ يُبْعَثُونَ

when they shall be resurrected.

[27:66] Nay, they have no knowledge of the Hereafter. Nay, they are in doubt about it. Nay, they are blind about it.

بَلِ ادَّارَكَ عِلْمُهُمْ فِي الْآخِرَةِ ۚ

Nay, they have no knowledge of the Hereafter.

بَلْ هُمْ فِي شَكٍّ مِّنْهَا ۖ

Nay, they are in doubt about it.

بَلْ هُم مِّنْهَا عَمُونَ

Nay, they are blind about it.

[27:67] And those who disbelieve say: "When we have become dust, we and our fathers, shall we really be brought forth (again)?

وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا

And those who disbelieve say:

أَإِذَا كُنَّا تُرَابًا

When we have become dust,

وَآبَاؤُنَا

we and our fathers,

أَئِنَّا لَمُخْرَجُونَ

shall we really be brought forth (again)?

وَقَالَ

[27:68] "Indeed we were promised this, we and our forefathers before, Verily, these are nothing but tales of ancients."

لَقَدْ وُعِدْنَا هَٰذَا

Indeed we were promised this

نَحْنُ وَآبَاؤُنَا مِن قَبْلُ

we and our forefathers before

إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا

Verily, these are nothing but

أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ

tales of ancients

لَقَدْ

[27:69] Say to them (O Muhammad SAW) "Travel in the land and see how has been the end of the criminals (those who denied Allah's Messengers and disobeyed Allah)."

قُلْ سِيرُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ

Say to them (O Muhammad SAW) 'Travel in the land'

فَانظُرُوا

and see

كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُجْرِمِينَ

how has been the end of the criminals (those who denied Allah's Messengers and disobeyed Allah)

[27:70] And grieve you not for them, nor be straitened (in distress) because of what they plot.

وَلَا تَكُن فِي ضَيْقٍ

nor be straitened (in distress)

مِّمَّا يَمْكُرُونَ

because of what they plot

[27:71] And they (the disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah) say: "When (will) this promise (be fulfilled), if you are truthful?"

And they (the disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah) say:

مَتَىٰ هَٰذَا الْوَعْدُ

When (will) this promise

إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ

if you are truthful?

وَيَقُولُونَ

[27:72] Say: "Perhaps that which you wish to hasten on, may be close behind you.

Perhaps that which may be

close behind you

بَعْضُ الَّذِي تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ

of that which you wish to hasten on.

[27:73] "Verily, your Lord is full of Grace for mankind, yet most of them do not give thanks."

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ

Verily, your Lord

لَذُو فَضْلٍ عَلَى النَّاسِ

is full of Grace for mankind

وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ

yet most of them

لَا يَشْكُرُونَ

do not give thanks.

وَإِنَّ

[27:74] And verily, your Lord knows what their breasts conceal and what they reveal.

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ

And verily, your Lord

what their breasts conceal

وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ

and what they reveal

وَإِنَّ

[27:75] And there is nothing hidden in the heaven and the earth, but is in a Clear Book (i.e. Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz).

وَمَا مِنْ غَائِبَةٍ

And there is nothing hidden

فِي السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ

in the heaven and the earth

إِلَّا فِي كِتَابٍ مُّبِينٍ

but is in a Clear Book (i.e. Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz)

وَمَا

[27:76] Verily, this Quran narrates to the Children of Israel most of that about which they differ.

إِنَّ هَٰذَا الْقُرْآنَ

Verily, this Quran

يَقُصُّ عَلَىٰ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ

narrates to the Children of Israel

أَكْثَرَ الَّذِي هُمْ فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ

most of that about which they differ

إِنَّ

[27:77] And truly, it (this Quran) is a guide and a mercy to the believers.

لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

to the believers

وَإِنَّهُ

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَقْضِي بَيْنَهُم بِحُكْمِهِ ۚ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْعَلِيمُ ٧٨

[27:78] Verily, your Lord will decide between them (various sects) by His Judgement. And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing.

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ

Verily, your Lord

يَقْضِي بَيْنَهُم

will decide between them

بِحُكْمِهِ ۚ

by His Judgement.

وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْعَلِيمُ

And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing.

إِنَّ

فَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ ۖ إِنَّكَ عَلَى الْحَقِّ الْمُبِينِ ٧٩

[27:79] So put your trust in Allah; surely, you (O Muhammad SAW) are on manifest truth.

فَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ ۖ

So put your trust in Allah;

إِنَّكَ عَلَى الْحَقِّ الْمُبِينِ

surely, you (O Muhammad SAW) are on manifest truth.

[27:80] Verily, you cannot make the dead to hear (i.e. benefit them and similarly the disbelievers), nor can you make the deaf to hear the call, when they flee, turning their backs.

إِنَّكَ لَا تُسْمِعُ الْمَوْتَىٰ

Verily, you cannot make the dead to hear

وَلَا تُسْمِعُ الصُّمَّ الدُّعَاءَ

nor can you make the deaf to hear the call

إِذَا وَلَّوْا مُدْبِرِينَ

when they flee, turning their backs

[27:81] Nor can you lead the blind out of their error, you can only make to hear those who believe in Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), and who have submitted (themselves to Allah in Islam as Muslims).

وَمَا أَنتَ بِهَادِي الْعُمْيِ عَن ضَلَالَتِهِمْ ۖ

Nor can you lead the blind out of their error

إِن تُسْمِعُ إِلَّا مَن يُؤْمِنُ بِآيَاتِنَا

you can only make to hear those who believe in Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.)

فَهُم مُّسْلِمُونَ

and who have submitted (themselves to Allah in Islam as Muslims)

۞ وَإِذَا وَقَعَ الْقَوْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ أَخْرَجْنَا لَهُمْ دَابَّةً مِّنَ الْأَرْضِ تُكَلِّمُهُمْ أَنَّ النَّاسَ كَانُوا بِآيَاتِنَا لَا يُوقِنُونَ ٨٢

[27:82] And when the Word (of torment) is fulfilled against them, We shall bring out from the earth a beast to them, which will speak to them because mankind believed not with certainty in Our Ayat (Verses of the Quran and Prophet Muhammad SAW).

۞ وَإِذَا وَقَعَ الْقَوْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ

And when the Word (of torment) is fulfilled against them,

أَخْرَجْنَا لَهُمْ دَابَّةً مِّنَ الْأَرْضِ

We shall bring out from the earth a beast to them,

تُكَلِّمُهُمْ

which will speak to them

أَنَّ النَّاسَ كَانُوا بِآيَاتِنَا لَا يُوقِنُونَ

because mankind believed not with certainty in Our Ayat (Verses of the Quran and Prophet Muhammad SAW).

۞ وَإِذَا

[27:83] And (remember) the Day when We shall gather out of every nation a troop of those who denied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), and (then) they (all) shall be gathered (and driven to the place of reckoning),

وَيَوْمَ نَحْشُرُ

And (remember) the Day when We shall gather

مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ

out of every nation

فَوْجًا مِّمَّن يُكَذِّبُ بِآيَاتِنَا

a troop of those who denied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.)

فَهُمْ يُوزَعُونَ

and (then) they (all) shall be gathered (and driven to the place of reckoning)

وَيَوْمَ

حَتَّىٰ إِذَا جَاءُوا قَالَ أَكَذَّبْتُم بِآيَاتِي وَلَمْ تُحِيطُوا بِهَا عِلْمًا أَمَّاذَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ ٨٤

[27:84] Till, when they come (before their Lord at the place of reckoning), He will say: "Did you deny My Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) when you comprehended them not in knowledge, or what (else) was it that you used to do?"

حَتَّىٰ إِذَا جَاءُوا

Till, when they come

قَالَ

He will say:

أَكَذَّبْتُم بِآيَاتِي

Did you deny My Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.)

وَلَمْ تُحِيطُوا بِهَا عِلْمًا

when you comprehended them not in knowledge,

أَمَّاذَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

or what (else) was it that you used to do?

[27:85] And the Word (of torment) will be fulfilled against them, because they have done wrong, and they will be unable to speak (in order to defend themselves).

[27:86] See they not that We have made the night for them to rest therein, and the day sight-giving? Verily, in this are Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) for the people who believe.

أَلَمْ يَرَوْا

See they not

أَنَّا جَعَلْنَا اللَّيْلَ لِيَسْكُنُوا فِيهِ

that We have made the night for them to rest therein

وَالنَّهَارَ مُبْصِرًا ۚ

and the day sight-giving?

إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ

Verily, in this

لَآيَاتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ

are Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) for the people who believe

أَلَمْ

[27:87] And (remember) the Day on which the Trumpet will be blown and all who are in the heavens and all who are on the earth, will be terrified except him whom Allah will (exempt). And all shall come to Him humbled.

وَيَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِي الصُّورِ

And (remember) the Day on which the Trumpet will be blown

فَفَزِعَ مَن فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَن فِي الْأَرْضِ

and all who are in the heavens and all who are on the earth, will be terrified

إِلَّا مَن شَاءَ اللَّهُ ۚ

except him whom Allah will (exempt)

وَكُلٌّ أَتَوْهُ دَاخِرِينَ

And all shall come to Him humbled

وَيَوْمَ

وَتَرَى الْجِبَالَ تَحْسَبُهَا جَامِدَةً وَهِيَ تَمُرُّ مَرَّ السَّحَابِ ۚ صُنْعَ اللَّهِ الَّذِي أَتْقَنَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ ۚ إِنَّهُ خَبِيرٌ بِمَا تَفْعَلُونَ ٨٨

[27:88] And you will see the mountains and think them solid, but they shall pass away as the passing away of the clouds. The Work of Allah, Who perfected all things, verily! He is Well-Acquainted with what you do.

وَتَرَى الْجِبَالَ

And you will see the mountains

تَحْسَبُهَا جَامِدَةً

and think them solid,

وَهِيَ تَمُرُّ مَرَّ السَّحَابِ ۚ

but they shall pass away as the passing away of the clouds.

صُنْعَ اللَّهِ الَّذِي أَتْقَنَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ ۚ

The Work of Allah, Who perfected all things,

إِنَّهُ خَبِيرٌ بِمَا تَفْعَلُونَ

verily! He is Well-Acquainted with what you do.

وَتَرَى

[27:89] Whoever brings a good deed (i.e. Belief in the Oneness of Allah along with every deed of righteousness), will have better than its worth, and they will be safe from the terror on that Day.

مَن جَاءَ بِالْحَسَنَةِ

Whoever brings a good deed

فَلَهُ خَيْرٌ مِّنْهَا

will have better than its worth

وَهُم مِّن فَزَعٍ يَوْمَئِذٍ آمِنُونَ

and they will be safe from the terror on that Day

[27:90] And whoever brings an evil (deed) (i.e. Shirk polytheism, disbelief in the Oneness of Allah and every evil sinful deed), they will be cast down (prone) on their faces in the Fire. (And it will be said to them) "Are you being recompensed anything except what you used to do?"

وَمَن جَاءَ بِالسَّيِّئَةِ

And whoever brings an evil (deed)

[27:91] I (Muhammad SAW) have been commanded only to worship the Lord of this city (Makkah), Him Who has sanctified it and His is everything. And I am commanded to be from among the Muslims (those who submit to Allah in Islam).

إِنَّمَا أُمِرْتُ

I (Muhammad SAW) have been commanded only to

أَنْ أَعْبُدَ رَبَّ هَٰذِهِ الْبَلْدَةِ

worship the Lord of this city (Makkah),

الَّذِي حَرَّمَهَا

Him Who has sanctified it

وَلَهُ كُلُّ شَيْءٍ ۖ

and His is everything.

وَأُمِرْتُ

And I am commanded to

أَنْ أَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ

be from among the Muslims (those who submit to Allah in Islam).

[27:92] And to recite the Quran, so whosoever receives guidance, receives it for the good of his ownself, and whosoever goes astray, say (to him): "I am only one of the warners."

وَأَنْ أَتْلُوَ الْقُرْآنَ ۖ

And to recite the Quran,

فَمَنِ اهْتَدَىٰ

so whosoever receives guidance,

فَإِنَّمَا يَهْتَدِي لِنَفْسِهِ ۖ

receives it for the good of his ownself,

وَمَن ضَلَّ

and whosoever goes astray,

فَقُلْ إِنَّمَا أَنَا مِنَ الْمُنذِرِينَ

say (to him): 'I am only one of the warners.'

[27:93] And say [(O Muhammad SAW) to these polytheists and pagans etc.]: "All the praises and thanks be to Allah. He will show you His Ayat (signs, in yourselves, and in the universe or punishments, etc.), and you shall recognise them. And your Lord is not unaware of what you do."

وَقُلِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ

And say [(O Muhammad SAW) to these polytheists and pagans etc.]: 'All the praises and thanks be to Allah.'

سَيُرِيكُمْ آيَاتِهِ

He will show you His Ayat (signs, in yourselves, and in the universe or punishments, etc.),

فَتَعْرِفُونَهَا ۚ

and you shall recognise them.

وَمَا رَبُّكَ بِغَافِلٍ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ

And your Lord is not unaware of what you do.

وَقُلِ
