الر ۚ كِتَابٌ أُحْكِمَتْ آيَاتُهُ ثُمَّ فُصِّلَتْ مِن لَّدُنْ حَكِيمٍ خَبِيرٍ ١

[11:1] Alif-Lam-Ra. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. (This is) a Book, the Verses whereof are perfected (in every sphere of knowledge, etc.), and then explained in detail from One (Allah), Who is All-Wise and Well-Acquainted (with all things).

الر ۚ كِتَابٌ أُحْكِمَتْ

Alif-Lam-Ra. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran]

آيَاتُهُ ثُمَّ

This is a Book, the Verses whereof are perfected

فُصِّلَتْ مِن

and then explained in detail

[11:2] (Saying) worship none but Allah. Verily, I (Muhammad SAW) am unto you from Him a warner and a bringer of glad tidings.

أَلَّا تَعْبُدُوا إِلَّا اللَّهَ ۚ

worship none but Allah.

إِنَّنِي لَكُم مِّنْهُ نَذِيرٌ وَبَشِيرٌ

Verily, I (Muhammad SAW) am unto you from Him a warner and a bringer of glad tidings.

وَأَنِ اسْتَغْفِرُوا رَبَّكُمْ ثُمَّ تُوبُوا إِلَيْهِ يُمَتِّعْكُم مَّتَاعًا حَسَنًا إِلَىٰ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى وَيُؤْتِ كُلَّ ذِي فَضْلٍ فَضْلَهُ ۖ وَإِن تَوَلَّوْا فَإِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ كَبِيرٍ ٣

[11:3] And (commanding you): "Seek the forgiveness of your Lord, and turn to Him in repentance, that He may grant you good enjoyment, for a term appointed, and bestow His abounding Grace to every owner of grace (i.e. the one who helps and serves needy and deserving, physically and with his wealth, and even with good words). But if you turn away, then I fear for you the torment of a Great Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection).

وَأَنِ اسْتَغْفِرُوا رَبَّكُمْ

And (commanding you): 'Seek the forgiveness of your Lord,

ثُمَّ تُوبُوا إِلَيْهِ

and turn to Him in repentance,

يُمَتِّعْكُم مَّتَاعًا حَسَنًا إِلَىٰ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى

that He may grant you good enjoyment, for a term appointed,

وَيُؤْتِ كُلَّ ذِي فَضْلٍ فَضْلَهُ ۖ

and bestow His abounding Grace to every owner of grace (i.e. the one who helps and serves needy and deserving, physically and with his wealth, and even with good words).

وَإِن تَوَلَّوْا

But if you turn away,

فَإِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ كَبِيرٍ

then I fear for you the torment of a Great Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection).

وَأَنِ

[11:4] To Allah is your return, and He is Able to do all things."

أَلَا إِنَّهُمْ يَثْنُونَ صُدُورَهُمْ لِيَسْتَخْفُوا مِنْهُ ۚ أَلَا حِينَ يَسْتَغْشُونَ ثِيَابَهُمْ يَعْلَمُ مَا يُسِرُّونَ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ ۚ إِنَّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ ٥

[11:5] No doubt! They did fold up their breasts, that they may hide from Him. Surely, even when they cover themselves with their garments, He knows what they conceal and what they reveal. Verily, He is the All-Knower of the (innermost secrets) of the breasts.

أَلَا إِنَّهُمْ يَثْنُونَ صُدُورَهُمْ

No doubt! They did fold up their breasts,

لِيَسْتَخْفُوا مِنْهُ ۚ

that they may hide from Him.

أَلَا حِينَ يَسْتَغْشُونَ ثِيَابَهُمْ

Surely, even when they cover themselves with their garments,

يَعْلَمُ مَا يُسِرُّونَ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ ۚ

He knows what they conceal and what they reveal.

إِنَّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ

Verily, He is the All-Knower of the (innermost secrets) of the breasts.

۞ وَمَا مِن دَابَّةٍ فِي الْأَرْضِ إِلَّا عَلَى اللَّهِ رِزْقُهَا وَيَعْلَمُ مُسْتَقَرَّهَا وَمُسْتَوْدَعَهَا ۚ كُلٌّ فِي كِتَابٍ مُّبِينٍ ٦

[11:6] And no (moving) living creature is there on earth but its provision is due from Allah. And He knows its dwelling place and its deposit (in the uterous, grave, etc.). all is in a Clear Book (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz - the Book of Decrees with Allah).

۞ وَمَا مِن دَابَّةٍ فِي الْأَرْضِ

وَهُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ وَكَانَ عَرْشُهُ عَلَى الْمَاءِ لِيَبْلُوَكُمْ أَيُّكُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًا ۗ وَلَئِن قُلْتَ إِنَّكُم مَّبْعُوثُونَ مِن بَعْدِ الْمَوْتِ لَيَقُولَنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ ٧

[11:7] And He it is Who has created the heavens and the earth in six Days and His Throne was on the water, that He might try you, which of you is the best in deeds. But if you were to say to them: "You shall indeed be raised up after death," those who disbelieve would be sure to say, "This is nothing but obvious magic."

وَهُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ

And He it is Who has created the heavens and the earth

فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ

in six Days

وَكَانَ عَرْشُهُ عَلَى الْمَاءِ

and His Throne was on the water

لِيَبْلُوَكُمْ أَيُّكُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًا ۗ

that He might try you, which of you is the best in deeds.

وَلَئِن قُلْتَ إِنَّكُم مَّبْعُوثُونَ مِن بَعْدِ الْمَوْتِ

But if you were to say to them: 'You shall indeed be raised up after death,'

لَيَقُولَنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا

those who disbelieve would be sure to say,

إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ

'This is nothing but obvious magic.'

[11:8] And if We delay the torment for them till a determined term, they are sure to say, "What keeps it back?" Verily, on the day it reaches them, nothing will turn it away from them, and they will be surrounded by (fall in) that at which they used to mock!

وَلَئِنْ أَخَّرْنَا عَنْهُمُ الْعَذَابَ

And if We delay the torment for them

إِلَىٰ أُمَّةٍ مَّعْدُودَةٍ

till a determined term

لَّيَقُولُنَّ مَا يَحْبِسُهُ ۗ

they are sure to say, 'What keeps it back?'

أَلَا يَوْمَ يَأْتِيهِمْ

Verily, on the day it reaches them

لَيْسَ مَصْرُوفًا عَنْهُمْ

nothing will turn it away from them

وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ

and they will be surrounded by (fall in) that at which they used to mock!

وَلَئِنْ

[11:9] And if We give man a taste of Mercy from Us, and then withdraw it from him, verily! He is despairing, ungrateful.

وَلَئِنْ أَذَقْنَا الْإِنسَانَ مِنَّا رَحْمَةً

And if We give man a taste of Mercy from Us,

ثُمَّ نَزَعْنَاهَا مِنْهُ

and then withdraw it from him,

إِنَّهُ لَيَئُوسٌ كَفُورٌ

verily! He is despairing, ungrateful.

وَلَئِنْ

وَلَئِنْ أَذَقْنَاهُ نَعْمَاءَ بَعْدَ ضَرَّاءَ مَسَّتْهُ لَيَقُولَنَّ ذَهَبَ السَّيِّئَاتُ عَنِّي ۚ إِنَّهُ لَفَرِحٌ فَخُورٌ ١٠

[11:10] But if We let him taste good (favour) after evil (poverty and harm) has touched him, he is sure to say: "Ills have departed from me." Surely, he is exultant, and boastful (ungrateful to Allah).

وَلَئِنْ أَذَقْنَاهُ نَعْمَاءَ

But if We let him taste good (favour)

بَعْدَ ضَرَّاءَ مَسَّتْهُ

after evil (poverty and harm) has touched him

لَيَقُولَنَّ

he is sure to say:

ذَهَبَ السَّيِّئَاتُ عَنِّي ۚ

"Ills have departed from me."

إِنَّهُ لَفَرِحٌ فَخُورٌ

Surely, he is exultant, and boastful (ungrateful to Allah).

وَلَئِنْ

[11:11] Except those who show patience and do righteous good deeds, those: theirs will be forgiveness and a great reward (Paradise).

إِلَّا الَّذِينَ صَبَرُوا

Except those who show patience

وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ

and do righteous good deeds

أُولَٰئِكَ

those:

لَهُم مَّغْفِرَةٌ

theirs will be forgiveness

وَأَجْرٌ كَبِيرٌ

and a great reward (Paradise)

إِلَّا

فَلَعَلَّكَ تَارِكٌ بَعْضَ مَا يُوحَىٰ إِلَيْكَ وَضَائِقٌ بِهِ صَدْرُكَ أَن يَقُولُوا لَوْلَا أُنزِلَ عَلَيْهِ كَنزٌ أَوْ جَاءَ مَعَهُ مَلَكٌ ۚ إِنَّمَا أَنتَ نَذِيرٌ ۚ وَاللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَكِيلٌ ١٢

[11:12] So perchance you (Muhammad SAW) may give up a part of what is revealed unto you, and that your breast feels straitened for it because they say, "Why has not a treasure been sent down unto him, or an angel has come with him?" But you are only a warner. And Allah is a Wakil (Disposer of affairs, Trustee, Guardian, etc.) over all things.

فَلَعَلَّكَ تَارِكٌ بَعْضَ مَا يُوحَىٰ إِلَيْكَ

So perchance you (Muhammad SAW) may give up a part of what is revealed unto you,

وَضَائِقٌ بِهِ صَدْرُكَ

and that your breast feels straitened for it

أَن يَقُولُوا

because they say,

لَوْلَا أُنزِلَ عَلَيْهِ كَنزٌ أَوْ جَاءَ مَعَهُ مَلَكٌ ۚ

"Why has not a treasure been sent down unto him, or an angel has come with him?"

إِنَّمَا أَنتَ نَذِيرٌ ۚ

But you are only a warner.

وَاللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَكِيلٌ

And Allah is a Wakil (Disposer of affairs, Trustee, Guardian, etc.) over all things.

فَلَعَلَّكَ

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ افْتَرَاهُ ۖ قُلْ فَأْتُوا بِعَشْرِ سُوَرٍ مِّثْلِهِ مُفْتَرَيَاتٍ وَادْعُوا مَنِ اسْتَطَعْتُم مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ ١٣

[11:13] Or they say, "He (Prophet Muhammad SAW) forged it (the Quran)." Say: "Bring you then ten forged Surah (chapters) like unto it, and call whomsoever you can, other than Allah (to your help), if you speak the truth!"

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ افْتَرَاهُ ۖ

Or they say, 'He (Prophet Muhammad SAW) forged it (the Quran).'

قُلْ فَأْتُوا بِعَشْرِ سُوَرٍ مِّثْلِهِ

Say: 'Bring you then ten forged Surah (chapters) like unto it,

مُفْتَرَيَاتٍ

forged,

وَادْعُوا مَنِ اسْتَطَعْتُم مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ

and call whomsoever you can, other than Allah (to your help),

إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ

if you speak the truth!'

[11:14] If then they answer you not, know then that the Revelation (this Quran) is sent down with the Knowledge of Allah and that La ilaha illa Huwa: (none has the right to be worshipped but He)! Will you then be Muslims (those who submit to Islam)?

فَإِلَّمْ يَسْتَجِيبُوا لَكُمْ

If then they answer you not

فَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّمَا أُنزِلَ بِعِلْمِ اللَّهِ

know then that the Revelation (this Quran) is sent down with the Knowledge of Allah

وَأَن لَّا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ

and that La ilaha illa Huwa: (none has the right to be worshipped but He)

فَهَلْ أَنتُم مُّسْلِمُونَ

Will you then be Muslims (those who submit to Islam)?

فَإِلَّمْ

[11:15] Whosoever desires the life of the world and its glitter; to them We shall pay in full (the wages of) their deeds therein, and they will have no diminution therein.

مَن كَانَ يُرِيدُ

Whosoever desires

الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا وَزِينَتَهَا

the life of the world and its glitter;

نُوَفِّ إِلَيْهِمْ أَعْمَالَهُمْ فِيهَا

to them We shall pay in full (the wages of) their deeds therein,

وَهُمْ فِيهَا لَا يُبْخَسُونَ

and they will have no diminution therein.

[11:16] They are those for whom there is nothing in the Hereafter but Fire; and vain are the deeds they did therein. And of no effect is that which they used to do.

أُولَٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ

They are those

لَيْسَ لَهُمْ فِي الْآخِرَةِ إِلَّا النَّارُ ۖ

for whom there is nothing in the Hereafter but Fire

وَحَبِطَ مَا صَنَعُوا فِيهَا

and vain are the deeds they did therein

وَبَاطِلٌ مَّا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ

And of no effect is that which they used to do

أَفَمَن كَانَ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّهِ وَيَتْلُوهُ شَاهِدٌ مِّنْهُ وَمِن قَبْلِهِ كِتَابُ مُوسَىٰ إِمَامًا وَرَحْمَةً ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ ۚ وَمَن يَكْفُرْ بِهِ مِنَ الْأَحْزَابِ فَالنَّارُ مَوْعِدُهُ ۚ فَلَا تَكُ فِي مِرْيَةٍ مِّنْهُ ۚ إِنَّهُ الْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكَ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ ١٧

[11:17] Can they (Muslims) who rely on a clear proof (the Quran) from their Lord, and whom a witness [Prophet Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)] from Him follows it (can they be equal with the disbelievers); and before it, came the Book of Musa (Moses), a guidance and a mercy, they believe therein, but those of the sects (Jews, Christians and all the other non-Muslim nations) that reject it (the Quran), the Fire will be their promised meeting-place. So be not in doubt about it (i.e. those who denied Prophet Muhammad SAW and also denied all that which he brought from Allah, surely, they will enter Hell). Verily, it is the truth from your Lord, but most of the mankind believe not.

أَفَمَن كَانَ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّهِ

Can they (Muslims) who rely on a clear proof (the Quran) from their Lord,

وَيَتْلُوهُ شَاهِدٌ مِّنْهُ

and whom a witness [Prophet Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)] from Him follows it

وَمِن قَبْلِهِ كِتَابُ مُوسَىٰ إِمَامًا وَرَحْمَةً ۚ

and before it, came the Book of Musa (Moses), a guidance and a mercy,

أُولَٰئِكَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ ۚ

they believe therein,

وَمَن يَكْفُرْ بِهِ مِنَ الْأَحْزَابِ

but those of the sects (Jews, Christians and all the other non-Muslim nations) that reject it (the Quran),

فَالنَّارُ مَوْعِدُهُ ۚ

the Fire will be their promised meeting-place.

فَلَا تَكُ فِي مِرْيَةٍ مِّنْهُ ۚ

So be not in doubt about it (i.e. those who denied Prophet Muhammad SAW and also denied all that which he brought from Allah,

إِنَّهُ الْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكَ

surely, they will enter Hell). Verily, it is the truth from your Lord,

وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ

but most of the mankind believe not.

وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ افْتَرَىٰ عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ يُعْرَضُونَ عَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ وَيَقُولُ الْأَشْهَادُ هَٰؤُلَاءِ الَّذِينَ كَذَبُوا عَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ ۚ أَلَا لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ عَلَى الظَّالِمِينَ ١٨

[11:18] And who does more wrong than he who invents a lie against Allah. Such will be brought before their Lord, and the witnesses will say, "These are the ones who lied against their Lord!" No doubt! the curse of Allah is on the Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, oppressors, etc.).

وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ افْتَرَىٰ عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا ۚ

And who does more wrong than he who invents a lie against Allah.

أُولَٰئِكَ يُعْرَضُونَ عَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ

Such will be brought before their Lord,

وَيَقُولُ الْأَشْهَادُ

and the witnesses will say,

هَٰؤُلَاءِ الَّذِينَ كَذَبُوا عَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ ۚ

"These are the ones who lied against their Lord!"

أَلَا لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ عَلَى الظَّالِمِينَ

No doubt! the curse of Allah is on the Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, oppressors, etc.).

[11:19] Those who hinder (others) from the Path of Allah (Islamic Monotheism), and seek a crookedness therein, while they are disbelievers in the Hereafter.

الَّذِينَ يَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ

Those who hinder (others) from the Path of Allah

وَيَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجًا

and seek a crookedness therein

وَهُم بِالْآخِرَةِ هُمْ كَافِرُونَ

while they are disbelievers in the Hereafter

الَّذِينَ

أُولَٰئِكَ لَمْ يَكُونُوا مُعْجِزِينَ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَمَا كَانَ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ مِنْ أَوْلِيَاءَ ۘ يُضَاعَفُ لَهُمُ الْعَذَابُ ۚ مَا كَانُوا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ السَّمْعَ وَمَا كَانُوا يُبْصِرُونَ ٢٠

[11:20] By no means will they escape (from Allah's Torment) on earth, nor have they protectors besides Allah! Their torment will be doubled! They could not bear to hear (the preachers of the truth) and they used not to see (the truth because of their severe aversion, inspite of the fact that they had the sense of hearing and sight).

أُولَٰئِكَ لَمْ يَكُونُوا مُعْجِزِينَ فِي الْأَرْضِ

By no means will they escape (from Allah's Torment) on earth,

وَمَا كَانَ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ مِنْ أَوْلِيَاءَ ۘ

nor have they protectors besides Allah!

يُضَاعَفُ لَهُمُ الْعَذَابُ ۚ

Their torment will be doubled!

مَا كَانُوا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ السَّمْعَ

They could not bear to hear (the preachers of the truth)

وَمَا كَانُوا يُبْصِرُونَ

and they used not to see (the truth because of their severe aversion, despite the fact that they had the sense of hearing and sight).

أُولَٰئِكَ

[11:21] They are those who have lost their ownselves, and their invented false deities will vanish from them.

أُولَٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ

They are those who

وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم

and their invented false deities will vanish from them

أُولَٰئِكَ

[11:23] Verily, those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, and humble themselves (in repentance and obedience) before their Lord, - they will be dwellers of Paradise to dwell therein forever.

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا

Verily, those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism)

وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ

and do righteous good deeds,

وَأَخْبَتُوا إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ

and humble themselves (in repentance and obedience) before their Lord,

أُولَٰئِكَ أَصْحَابُ الْجَنَّةِ ۖ

they will be dwellers of Paradise

هُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ

to dwell therein forever.

[11:24] The likeness of the two parties is as the blind and the deaf and the seer and the hearer. Are they equal when compared? Will you not then take heed?

۞ مَثَلُ الْفَرِيقَيْنِ

The likeness of the two parties

كَالْأَعْمَىٰ وَالْأَصَمِّ

is as the blind and the deaf

وَالْبَصِيرِ وَالسَّمِيعِ ۚ

and the seer and the hearer.

هَلْ يَسْتَوِيَانِ مَثَلًا ۚ

Are they equal when compared?

أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ

Will you not then take heed?

وَإِلَىٰ عَادٍ أَخَاهُمْ هُودًا ۚ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ ۖ إِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا مُفْتَرُونَ ٥٠

[11:50] And to 'Ad (people We sent) their brother Hud. He said, "O my people! Worship Allah! You have no other Ilah (God) but Him. Certainly, you do nothing but invent (lies)!

وَإِلَىٰ عَادٍ أَخَاهُمْ هُودًا ۚ

And to 'Ad (people We sent) their brother Hud.

قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا

He said, 'O my people!

اللَّهَ مَا

Worship Allah!

لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ ۖ إِنْ

You have no other Ilah (God) but Him.

أَنتُمْ إِلَّا مُفْتَرُونَ

Certainly, you do nothing but invent (lies)!

وَإِلَىٰ

[11:51] "O my people I ask of you no reward for it (the Message). My reward is only from Him, Who created me. Will you not then understand?

يَا قَوْمِ لَا

O my people

أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا ۖ إِنْ

I ask of you no reward for it (the Message)

أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَى الَّذِي فَطَرَنِي ۚ أَفَلَا

My reward is only from Him, Who created me

تَعْقِلُونَ

Will you not then understand?

[11:52] "And O my people! Ask forgiveness of your Lord and then repent to Him, He will send you (from the sky) abundant rain, and add strength to your strength, so do not turn away as Mujrimun (criminals, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah)."

وَيَا قَوْمِ اسْتَغْفِرُوا

And O my people!

رَبَّكُمْ ثُمَّ

Ask forgiveness of your Lord

تُوبُوا إِلَيْهِ يُرْسِلِ

and then repent to Him

السَّمَاءَ عَلَيْكُم مِّدْرَارًا وَيَزِدْكُمْ

He will send you (from the sky) abundant rain

قُوَّةً إِلَىٰ قُوَّتِكُمْ وَلَا

and add strength to your strength

تَتَوَلَّوْا مُجْرِمِينَ

so do not turn away as Mujrimun (criminals, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah)

وَيَا قَوْمِ

[11:53] They said: "O Hud! No evidence have you brought us, and we shall not leave our gods for your (mere) saying! And we are not believers in you.

قَالُوا يَا هُودُ مَا

They said: 'O Hud!'

جِئْتَنَا بِبَيِّنَةٍ وَمَا

No evidence have you brought us,

نَحْنُ بِتَارِكِي آلِهَتِنَا عَن قَوْلِكَ وَمَا

and we shall not leave our gods for your (mere) saying!

نَحْنُ لَكَ بِمُؤْمِنِينَ

And we are not believers in you.

[11:54] "All that we say is that some of our gods (false deities) have seized you with evil (madness)." He said: "I call Allah to witness and bear you witness that I am free from that which you ascribe as partners in worship,

اعْتَرَاكَ بَعْضُ آلِهَتِنَا بِسُوءٍ ۗ

[11:56] "I put my trust in Allah, my Lord and your Lord! There is not a moving (living) creature but He has grasp of its forelock. Verily, my Lord is on the Straight Path (the truth).

إِنِّي تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ

I put my trust in Allah,

رَبِّي وَرَبِّكُم ۚ

my Lord and your Lord!

مَّا مِن دَابَّةٍ إِلَّا هُوَ آخِذٌ بِنَاصِيَتِهَا ۚ

There is not a moving (living) creature but He has grasp of its forelock.

إِنَّ رَبِّي عَلَىٰ صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ

Verily, my Lord is on the Straight Path (the truth).

[11:57] "So if you turn away, still I have conveyed the Message with which I was sent to you. My Lord will make another people succeed you, and you will not harm Him in the least. Surely, my Lord is Guardian over all things."

فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا

So if you turn away,

فَقَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكُم مَّا أُرْسِلْتُ بِهِ إِلَيْكُمْ ۚ

still I have conveyed the Message with which I was sent to you.

وَيَسْتَخْلِفُ رَبِّي قَوْمًا غَيْرَكُمْ

My Lord will make another people succeed you,

وَلَا تَضُرُّونَهُ شَيْئًا ۚ

and you will not harm Him in the least.

إِنَّ رَبِّي عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ حَفِيظٌ

Surely, my Lord is Guardian over all things.

[11:58] And when Our Commandment came, We saved Hud and those who believed with him by a Mercy from Us, and We saved them from a severe torment.

وَلَمَّا جَاءَ أَمْرُنَا

And when Our Commandment came

نَجَّيْنَا هُودًا وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مَعَهُ

We saved Hud and those who believed with him

بِرَحْمَةٍ مِّنَّا

by a Mercy from Us

وَنَجَّيْنَاهُم مِّنْ عَذَابٍ غَلِيظٍ

and We saved them from a severe torment

وَلَمَّا

[11:59] Such were 'Ad (people). They rejected the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord and disobeyed His Messengers, and followed the command of every proud obstinate (oppressor of the truth, from their leaders).

وَتِلْكَ عَادٌ ۖ

Such were 'Ad (people).

جَحَدُوا بِآيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ

They rejected the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord

وَعَصَوْا رُسُلَهُ

and disobeyed His Messengers,

وَاتَّبَعُوا أَمْرَ كُلِّ جَبَّارٍ عَنِيدٍ

and followed the command of every proud obstinate (oppressor of the truth, from their leaders).

وَتِلْكَ

[11:60] And they were pursued by a curse in this world and (so they will be) on the Day of Resurrection. No doubt! Verily, 'Ad disbelieved in their Lord. So away with 'Ad, the people of Hud.

وَأُتْبِعُوا فِي هَٰذِهِ الدُّنْيَا لَعْنَةً

And they were pursued by a curse in this world

وَيَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ۗ

and (so they will be) on the Day of Resurrection.

أَلَا إِنَّ عَادًا كَفَرُوا رَبَّهُمْ ۗ

No doubt! Verily, 'Ad disbelieved in their Lord.

أَلَا بُعْدًا لِّعَادٍ قَوْمِ هُودٍ

So away with 'Ad, the people of Hud.

۞ وَإِلَىٰ ثَمُودَ أَخَاهُمْ صَالِحًا ۚ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ ۖ هُوَ أَنشَأَكُم مِّنَ الْأَرْضِ وَاسْتَعْمَرَكُمْ فِيهَا فَاسْتَغْفِرُوهُ ثُمَّ تُوبُوا إِلَيْهِ ۚ إِنَّ رَبِّي قَرِيبٌ مُّجِيبٌ ٦١

[11:61] And to Thamud (people, We sent) their brother Salih (Saleh). He said: "O my people! Worship Allah, you have no other Ilah (God) but Him. He brought you forth from the earth and settled you therein, then ask forgiveness of Him and turn to Him in repentance. Certainly, my Lord is Near (to all by His Knowledge), Responsive."

۞ وَإِلَىٰ ثَمُودَ أَخَاهُمْ صَالِحًا ۚ

And to Thamud (people, We sent) their brother Salih (Saleh).

قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا

He said: 'O my people! Worship Allah,

لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ ۖ هُوَ

you have no other Ilah (God) but Him.

أَنشَأَكُم مِّنَ الْأَرْضِ وَاسْتَعْمَرَكُمْ فِيهَا فَاسْتَغْفِرُوهُ

He brought you forth from the earth and settled you therein,

ثُمَّ تُوبُوا إِلَيْهِ ۚ إِنَّ

then ask forgiveness of Him and turn to Him in repentance.

رَبِّي قَرِيبٌ مُّجِيبٌ

Certainly, my Lord is Near (to all by His Knowledge), Responsive.

قَالُوا يَا صَالِحُ قَدْ كُنتَ فِينَا مَرْجُوًّا قَبْلَ هَٰذَا ۖ أَتَنْهَانَا أَن نَّعْبُدَ مَا يَعْبُدُ آبَاؤُنَا وَإِنَّنَا لَفِي شَكٍّ مِّمَّا تَدْعُونَا إِلَيْهِ مُرِيبٍ ٦٢

[11:62] They said: "O Salih (Saleh)! You have been among us as a figure of good hope (and we wished for you to be our chief), till this [new thing which you have brought; that we leave our gods and worship your God (Allah) Alone]! Do you (now) forbid us the worship of what our fathers have worshipped? But we are really in grave doubt as to that which you invite us to (monotheism)."

قَالُوا يَا صَالِحُ قَدْ

They said: 'O Salih (Saleh)!'

كُنتَ فِينَا مَرْجُوًّا قَبْلَ هَٰذَا ۖ أَتَنْهَانَا

[11:63] He said: "O my people! Tell me, if I have a clear proof from my Lord, and there has come to me a Mercy (Prophethood, etc.) from Him, who then can help me against Allah, if I were to disobey Him? Then you increase me not but in loss.

قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ أَرَأَيْتُمْ

He said: 'O my people!

إِن كُنتُ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّي وَآتَانِي

Tell me, if I have a clear proof from my Lord,

مِنْهُ رَحْمَةً فَمَن

and there has come to me a Mercy (Prophethood, etc.) from Him,

يَنصُرُنِي مِنَ اللَّهِ إِنْ عَصَيْتُهُ ۖ فَمَا

[11:64] "And O my people! This she-camel of Allah is a sign to you, leave her to feed on Allah's earth, and touch her not with evil, lest a near torment will seize you."

وَيَا قَوْمِ هَٰذِهِ

And O my people!

نَاقَةُ اللَّهِ لَكُمْ

This she-camel of Allah

آيَةً فَذَرُوهَا

is a sign to you,

تَأْكُلْ فِي أَرْضِ اللَّهِ وَلَا

leave her to feed on Allah's earth,

تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوءٍ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ

and touch her not with evil,

عَذَابٌ قَرِيبٌ

lest a near torment will seize you.

وَيَا قَوْمِ

[11:65] But they killed her. So he said: "Enjoy yourselves in your homes for three days. This is a promise (i.e. a threat) that will not be belied."

فَعَقَرُوهَا

But they killed her.

فَقَالَ

So he said:

تَمَتَّعُوا فِي دَارِكُمْ

Enjoy yourselves in your homes

ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ ۖ

for three days.

ذَٰلِكَ وَعْدٌ غَيْرُ مَكْذُوبٍ

This is a promise (i.e. a threat) that will not be belied.

فَعَقَرُوهَا

[11:66] So when Our Commandment came, We saved Salih (Saleh) and those who believed with him by a Mercy from Us, and from the disgrace of that Day. Verily, your Lord, He is the All-Strong, the All-Mighty.

فَلَمَّا جَاءَ أَمْرُنَا

So when Our Commandment came,

نَجَّيْنَا صَالِحًا وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مَعَهُ

We saved Salih (Saleh) and those who believed with him

بِرَحْمَةٍ مِّنَّا

by a Mercy from Us,

وَمِنْ خِزْيِ يَوْمِئِذٍ ۗ

and from the disgrace of that Day.

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ الْقَوِيُّ الْعَزِيزُ

Verily, your Lord, He is the All-Strong, the All-Mighty.

فَلَمَّا

[11:67] And As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook the wrong-doers, so they lay (dead), prostrate in their homes,

وَأَخَذَ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا

And As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook the wrong-doers,

الصَّيْحَةُ

the awful cry,

فَأَصْبَحُوا

so they lay

فِي دِيَارِهِمْ

in their homes

جَاثِمِينَ

prostrate (dead),

وَأَخَذَ

[11:68] As if they had never lived there. No doubt! Verily, Thamud disbelieved in their Lord. So away with Thamud!

كَأَن لَّمْ يَغْنَوْا فِيهَا ۗ

As if they had never lived there.

أَلَا إِنَّ ثَمُودَ كَفَرُوا رَبَّهُمْ ۗ

No doubt! Verily, Thamud disbelieved in their Lord.

أَلَا بُعْدًا لِّثَمُودَ

So away with Thamud!

[11:69] And verily, there came Our Messengers to Ibrahim (Abraham) with glad tidings. They said: Salam (greetings or peace!) He answered, Salam (greetings or peace!) and he hastened to entertain them with a roasted calf.

وَلَقَدْ جَاءَتْ رُسُلُنَا إِبْرَاهِيمَ بِالْبُشْرَىٰ

And verily, there came Our Messengers to Ibrahim (Abraham) with glad tidings.

قَالُوا سَلَامًا ۖ

They said: Salam (greetings or peace!)

قَالَ سَلَامٌ ۖ

He answered, Salam (greetings or peace!)

فَمَا لَبِثَ أَن جَاءَ بِعِجْلٍ حَنِيذٍ

and he hastened to entertain them with a roasted calf.

[11:70] But when he saw their hands went not towards it (the meal), he felt some mistrust of them, and conceived a fear of them. They said: "Fear not, we have been sent against the people of Lout (Lot)."

فَلَمَّا رَأَىٰ أَيْدِيَهُمْ لَا تَصِلُ إِلَيْهِ

But when he saw their hands went not towards it (the meal)

نَكِرَهُمْ وَأَوْجَسَ مِنْهُمْ خِيفَةً ۚ

he felt some mistrust of them, and conceived a fear of them.

قَالُوا لَا تَخَفْ

They said: 'Fear not,'

إِنَّا أُرْسِلْنَا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِ لُوطٍ

we have been sent against the people of Lout (Lot).

فَلَمَّا

[11:71] And his wife was standing (there), and she laughed (either, because the Messengers did not eat their food or for being glad for the destruction of the people of Lout (Lot). But We gave her glad tidings of Ishaque (Isaac), and after him, of Ya'qub (Jacob).

وَامْرَأَتُهُ قَائِمَةٌ

And his wife was standing (there)

فَضَحِكَتْ

and she laughed

فَبَشَّرْنَاهَا بِإِسْحَاقَ

But We gave her glad tidings of Ishaque (Isaac)

وَمِن وَرَاءِ إِسْحَاقَ يَعْقُوبَ

and after him, of Ya'qub (Jacob)

وَامْرَأَتُهُ

[11:72] She said (in astonishment): "Woe unto me! Shall I bear a child while I am an old woman, and here is my husband, an old man? Verily! This is a strange thing!"

قَالَتْ يَا وَيْلَتَىٰ

Woe unto me!

أَأَلِدُ وَأَنَا عَجُوزٌ

Shall I bear a child while I am an old woman?

وَهَٰذَا بَعْلِي شَيْخًا ۖ

and here is my husband, an old man?

إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَشَيْءٌ عَجِيبٌ

Verily! This is a strange thing!

قَالَتْ

قَالُوا أَتَعْجَبِينَ مِنْ أَمْرِ اللَّهِ ۖ رَحْمَتُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ ۚ إِنَّهُ حَمِيدٌ مَّجِيدٌ ٧٣

[11:73] They said: "Do you wonder at the Decree of Allah? The Mercy of Allah and His Blessings be on you, O the family [of Ibrahim (Abraham)]. Surely, He (Allah) is All-Praiseworthy, All-Glorious."

قَالُوا

They said:

أَتَعْجَبِينَ مِنْ أَمْرِ اللَّهِ ۖ

Do you wonder at the Decree of Allah?

رَحْمَتُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ عَلَيْكُمْ

The Mercy of Allah and His Blessings be on you,

أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ ۚ

O the family [of Ibrahim (Abraham)].

إِنَّهُ حَمِيدٌ مَّجِيدٌ

Surely, He (Allah) is All-Praiseworthy, All-Glorious.

فَلَمَّا ذَهَبَ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الرَّوْعُ وَجَاءَتْهُ الْبُشْرَىٰ يُجَادِلُنَا فِي قَوْمِ لُوطٍ ٧٤

[11:74] Then when the fear had gone away from (the mind of) Ibrahim (Abraham), and the glad tidings had reached him, he began to plead with Us (Our Messengers) for the people of Lout (Lot).

فَلَمَّا ذَهَبَ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الرَّوْعُ

Then when the fear had gone away from (the mind of) Ibrahim (Abraham)

وَجَاءَتْهُ الْبُشْرَىٰ

and the glad tidings had reached him

يُجَادِلُنَا فِي قَوْمِ لُوطٍ

he began to plead with Us (Our Messengers) for the people of Lout (Lot)

فَلَمَّا

[11:75] Verily, Ibrahim (Abraham) was, without doubt, forbearing, used to invoke Allah with humility, and was repentant (to Allah all the time, again and again).

[11:76] "O Ibrahim (Abraham)! Forsake this. Indeed, the Commandment of your Lord has gone forth. Verily, there will come a torment for them which cannot be turned back."

يَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ أَعْرِضْ

O Ibrahim (Abraham)!

عَنْ هَٰذَا ۖ إِنَّهُ

Forsake this.

قَدْ جَاءَ أَمْرُ رَبِّكَ ۖ وَإِنَّهُمْ

Indeed, the Commandment of your Lord has gone forth.

آتِيهِمْ عَذَابٌ غَيْرُ مَرْدُودٍ

Verily, there will come a torment for them which cannot be turned back.

يَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ

[11:77] And when Our Messengers came to Lout (Lot), he was grieved on their account and felt himself straitened for them (lest the town people should approach them to commit sodomy with them). He said: "This is a distressful day."

وَلَمَّا جَاءَتْ رُسُلُنَا لُوطًا

And when Our Messengers came to Lout (Lot)

سِيءَ بِهِمْ وَضَاقَ بِهِمْ ذَرْعًا

he was grieved on their account and felt himself straitened for them

وَقَالَ هَٰذَا يَوْمٌ عَصِيبٌ

He said: 'This is a distressful day.'

وَجَاءَهُ قَوْمُهُ يُهْرَعُونَ إِلَيْهِ وَمِن قَبْلُ كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ السَّيِّئَاتِ ۚ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ هَٰؤُلَاءِ بَنَاتِي هُنَّ أَطْهَرُ لَكُمْ ۖ فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَلَا تُخْزُونِ فِي ضَيْفِي ۖ أَلَيْسَ مِنكُمْ رَجُلٌ رَّشِيدٌ ٧٨

[11:78] And his people came rushing towards him, and since aforetime they used to commit crimes (sodomy, etc.), he said: "O my people! Here are my daughters (i.e. the daughters of my nation), they are purer for you (if you marry them lawfully). So fear Allah and degrade me not as regards my guests! Is there not among you a single right-minded man?"

وَجَاءَهُ قَوْمُهُ يُهْرَعُونَ إِلَيْهِ

And his people came rushing towards him,

وَمِن قَبْلُ كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ السَّيِّئَاتِ ۚ

and since aforetime they used to commit crimes (sodomy, etc.),

قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ هَٰؤُلَاءِ بَنَاتِي هُنَّ

he said: 'O my people! Here are my daughters (i.e. the daughters of my nation),

أَطْهَرُ لَكُمْ ۖ فَاتَّقُوا

they are purer for you (if you marry them lawfully).

اللَّهَ وَلَا تُخْزُونِ فِي ضَيْفِي ۖ أَلَيْسَ

So fear Allah and degrade me not as regards my guests!

مِنكُمْ رَجُلٌ رَّشِيدٌ

Is there not among you a single right-minded man?

[11:79] They said: "Surely you know that we have neither any desire nor in need of your daughters, and indeed you know well what we want!"

قَالُوا

They said:

لَقَدْ عَلِمْتَ

Surely you know that

مَا لَنَا فِي بَنَاتِكَ مِنْ حَقٍّ

we have neither any desire nor in need of your daughters,

وَإِنَّكَ لَتَعْلَمُ

and indeed you know well

مَا نُرِيدُ

what we want!

[11:80] He said: "Would that I had strength (men) to overpower you, or that I could betake myself to some powerful support (to resist you)."

He said:

لَوْ أَنَّ لِي بِكُمْ قُوَّةً

Would that I had strength (men) to overpower you,

أَوْ آوِي إِلَىٰ رُكْنٍ شَدِيدٍ

or that I could betake myself to some powerful support (to resist you).

قَالُوا يَا لُوطُ إِنَّا رُسُلُ رَبِّكَ لَن يَصِلُوا إِلَيْكَ ۖ فَأَسْرِ بِأَهْلِكَ بِقِطْعٍ مِّنَ اللَّيْلِ وَلَا يَلْتَفِتْ مِنكُمْ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا امْرَأَتَكَ ۖ إِنَّهُ مُصِيبُهَا مَا أَصَابَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ مَوْعِدَهُمُ الصُّبْحُ ۚ أَلَيْسَ الصُّبْحُ بِقَرِيبٍ ٨١

[11:81] They (Messengers) said: "O Lout (Lot)! Verily, we are the Messengers from your Lord! They shall not reach you! So travel with your family in a part of the night, and let not any of you look back, but your wife (will remain behind), verily, the punishment which will afflict them, will afflict her. Indeed, morning is their appointed time. Is not the morning near?"

قَالُوا يَا لُوطُ إِنَّا

They (Messengers) said: 'O Lout (Lot)!'

رُسُلُ رَبِّكَ لَن

Verily, we are the Messengers from your Lord!

يَصِلُوا إِلَيْكَ ۖ فَأَسْرِ

They shall not reach you!

بِأَهْلِكَ بِقِطْعٍ مِّنَ اللَّيْلِ وَلَا

So travel with your family in a part of the night,

يَلْتَفِتْ مِنكُمْ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا

and let not any of you look back,

امْرَأَتَكَ ۖ إِنَّهُ

but your wife (will remain behind),

مُصِيبُهَا مَا أَصَابَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ

verily, the punishment which will afflict them, will afflict her.

مَوْعِدَهُمُ الصُّبْحُ ۚ أَلَيْسَ

Indeed, morning is their appointed time.

Is not the morning near?

[11:82] So when Our Commandment came, We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down, and rained on them stones of baked clay, piled up;

فَلَمَّا جَاءَ أَمْرُنَا

So when Our Commandment came

جَعَلْنَا عَالِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا

We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down

وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهَا

and rained on them

حِجَارَةً مِّن سِجِّيلٍ مَّنضُودٍ

stones of baked clay, piled up

فَلَمَّا

[11:83] Marked from your Lord, and they are not ever far from the Zalimun (polytheists, evil-doers, etc.).

وَمَا هِيَ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ

and they are not ever from the Zalimun

[11:84] And to the Madyan (Midian) people (We sent) their brother Shu'aib. He said: "O my people! Worship Allah, you have no other Ilah (God) but Him, and give not short measure or weight, I see you in prosperity; and verily I fear for you the torment of a Day encompassing.

۞ وَإِلَىٰ مَدْيَنَ أَخَاهُمْ شُعَيْبًا ۚ

And to the Madyan (Midian) people (We sent) their brother Shu'aib.

قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا

He said: 'O my people!

اللَّهَ مَا

Worship Allah,

لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ ۖ وَلَا

you have no other Ilah (God) but Him,

تَنقُصُوا الْمِكْيَالَ وَالْمِيزَانَ ۚ إِنِّي

and give not short measure or weight.

أَرَاكُم بِخَيْرٍ وَإِنِّي

I see you in prosperity;

أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ مُّحِيطٍ

and verily I fear for you the torment of a Day encompassing.

۞ وَإِلَىٰ

[11:85] "And O my people! Give full measure and weight in justice and reduce not the things that are due to the people, and do not commit mischief in the land, causing corruption.

وَيَا قَوْمِ أَوْفُوا

And O my people!

الْمِكْيَالَ وَالْمِيزَانَ بِالْقِسْطِ ۖ وَلَا

Give full measure and weight in justice

تَبْخَسُوا النَّاسَ أَشْيَاءَهُمْ وَلَا

and reduce not the things that are due to the people

تَعْثَوْا فِي الْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ

and do not commit mischief in the land, causing corruption

وَيَا قَوْمِ

أَوْفُوا

[11:86] "That which is left by Allah for you (after giving the rights of the people) is better for you, if you are believers. And I am not set over you as a guardian.

بَقِيَّتُ اللَّهِ

That which is left by Allah

خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ

is better for you

إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ ۚ

if you are believers.

وَمَا أَنَا عَلَيْكُم بِحَفِيظٍ

And I am not set over you as a guardian.

قَالُوا يَا شُعَيْبُ أَصَلَاتُكَ تَأْمُرُكَ أَن نَّتْرُكَ مَا يَعْبُدُ آبَاؤُنَا أَوْ أَن نَّفْعَلَ فِي أَمْوَالِنَا مَا نَشَاءُ ۖ إِنَّكَ لَأَنتَ الْحَلِيمُ الرَّشِيدُ ٨٧

[11:87] They said: "O Shu'aib! Does your Salat (prayer) (i.e. the prayers which you offer has spoiled your mind, so you) command that we leave off what our fathers used to worship, or that we leave off doing what we like with our property? Verily, you are the forbearer, right-minded!" (They said this sarcastically).

قَالُوا يَا شُعَيْبُ أَصَلَاتُكَ

They said: 'O Shu'aib!'

تَأْمُرُكَ أَن

Does your Salat (prayer)

نَّتْرُكَ مَا يَعْبُدُ آبَاؤُنَا أَوْ

command that we leave off what our fathers used to worship,

أَن نَّفْعَلَ فِي أَمْوَالِنَا مَا نَشَاءُ ۖ إِنَّكَ

or that we leave off doing what we like with our property?

لَأَنتَ الْحَلِيمُ الرَّشِيدُ

Verily, you are the forbearer, right-minded!

قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِن كُنتُ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّي وَرَزَقَنِي مِنْهُ رِزْقًا حَسَنًا ۚ وَمَا أُرِيدُ أَنْ أُخَالِفَكُمْ إِلَىٰ مَا أَنْهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ ۚ إِنْ أُرِيدُ إِلَّا الْإِصْلَاحَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ ۚ وَمَا تَوْفِيقِي إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ ۚ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَإِلَيْهِ أُنِيبُ ٨٨

[11:88] He said: "O my people! Tell me, if I have a clear evidence from my Lord, and He has given me a good sustenance from Himself (shall I corrupt it by mixing it with the unlawfully earned money). I wish not, in contradiction to you, to do that which I forbid you. I only desire reform so far as I am able, to the best of my power. And my guidance cannot come except from Allah, in Him I trust and unto Him I repent.

قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ أَرَأَيْتُمْ

He said: 'O my people!

إِن كُنتُ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّي وَرَزَقَنِي

Tell me, if I have a clear evidence from my Lord,

مِنْهُ رِزْقًا حَسَنًا ۚ وَمَا

and He has given me a good sustenance from Himself,

أُرِيدُ أَنْ أُخَالِفَكُمْ إِلَىٰ مَا أَنْهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ ۚ إِنْ

shall I corrupt it by mixing it with the unlawfully earned money? I wish not, in contradiction to you, to do that which I forbid you.

أُرِيدُ إِلَّا الْإِصْلَاحَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ ۚ وَمَا

I only desire reform so far as I am able, to the best of my power.

تَوْفِيقِي إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ ۚ عَلَيْهِ

And my guidance cannot come except from Allah,

تَوَكَّلْتُ وَإِلَيْهِ أُنِيبُ

in Him I trust and unto Him I repent.

وَيَا قَوْمِ لَا يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ شِقَاقِي أَن يُصِيبَكُم مِّثْلُ مَا أَصَابَ قَوْمَ نُوحٍ أَوْ قَوْمَ هُودٍ أَوْ قَوْمَ صَالِحٍ ۚ وَمَا قَوْمُ لُوطٍ مِّنكُم بِبَعِيدٍ ٨٩

[11:89] "And O my people! Let not my Shiqaqcause you to suffer the fate similar to that of the people of Nuh (Noah) or of Hud or of Salih (Saleh), and the people of Lout (Lot) are not far off from you!

وَيَا قَوْمِ لَا

And O my people!

يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ شِقَاقِي أَن

Let not my Shiqaq cause you

يُصِيبَكُم مِّثْلُ مَا أَصَابَ قَوْمَ

to suffer the fate similar to that of

نُوحٍ أَوْ قَوْمَ هُودٍ أَوْ قَوْمَ صَالِحٍ ۚ وَمَا

the people of Nuh (Noah) or of Hud or of Salih (Saleh),

قَوْمُ لُوطٍ مِّنكُم بِبَعِيدٍ

and the people of Lout (Lot) are not far off from you!

وَيَا قَوْمِ

[11:90] "And ask forgiveness of your Lord and turn unto Him in repentance. Verily, my Lord is Most Merciful, Most Loving."

وَاسْتَغْفِرُوا رَبَّكُمْ

And ask forgiveness of your Lord

ثُمَّ تُوبُوا إِلَيْهِ ۚ

and turn unto Him in repentance.

إِنَّ رَبِّي رَحِيمٌ وَدُودٌ

Verily, my Lord is Most Merciful, Most Loving.

وَاسْتَغْفِرُوا

قَالُوا يَا شُعَيْبُ مَا نَفْقَهُ كَثِيرًا مِّمَّا تَقُولُ وَإِنَّا لَنَرَاكَ فِينَا ضَعِيفًا ۖ وَلَوْلَا رَهْطُكَ لَرَجَمْنَاكَ ۖ وَمَا أَنتَ عَلَيْنَا بِعَزِيزٍ ٩١

[11:91] They said: "O Shu'aib! We do not understand much of what you say, and we see you a weak (man, it is said that he was a blind man) among us. Were it not for your family, we should certainly have stoned you and you are not powerful against us."

قَالُوا يَا شُعَيْبُ مَا

They said: 'O Shu'aib!

نَفْقَهُ كَثِيرًا مِّمَّا تَقُولُ وَإِنَّا

We do not understand much of what you say,

لَنَرَاكَ فِينَا ضَعِيفًا ۖ وَلَوْلَا

and we see you a weak (man, it is said that he was a blind man) among us.

رَهْطُكَ لَرَجَمْنَاكَ ۖ

Were it not for your family,

وَمَا

we should certainly have stoned you

أَنتَ عَلَيْنَا بِعَزِيزٍ

and you are not powerful against us.

[11:92] He said: "O my people! Is then my family of more weight with you than Allah? And you have cast Him away behind your backs. Verily, my Lord is surrounding all that you do.

قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ أَرَهْطِي

He said: 'O my people!

أَعَزُّ عَلَيْكُم مِّنَ اللَّهِ وَاتَّخَذْتُمُوهُ

Is then my family of more weight with you than Allah?

وَرَاءَكُمْ ظِهْرِيًّا ۖ إِنَّ

And you have cast Him away behind your backs.

رَبِّي بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ مُحِيطٌ

Verily, my Lord is surrounding all that you do.

[11:93] "And O my people! Act according to your ability and way, and I am acting (on my way). You will come to know who it is on whom descends the torment that will cover him with ignominy, and who is a liar! And watch you! Verily, I too am watching with you."

وَيَا قَوْمِ اعْمَلُوا

And O my people!

عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِكُمْ إِنِّي

Act according to your ability and way,

عَامِلٌ ۖ سَوْفَ

and I am acting (on my way).

تَعْلَمُونَ مَن

You will come to know

يَأْتِيهِ عَذَابٌ يُخْزِيهِ وَمَنْ

who it is on whom descends the torment that will cover him with ignominy,

هُوَ كَاذِبٌ ۖ وَارْتَقِبُوا

and who is a liar!

إِنِّي

And watch you!

مَعَكُمْ رَقِيبٌ

Verily, I too am watching with you.

وَيَا قَوْمِ

وَلَمَّا جَاءَ أَمْرُنَا نَجَّيْنَا شُعَيْبًا وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مَعَهُ بِرَحْمَةٍ مِّنَّا وَأَخَذَتِ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا الصَّيْحَةُ فَأَصْبَحُوا فِي دِيَارِهِمْ جَاثِمِينَ ٩٤

[11:94] And when Our Commandment came, We saved Shu'aib and those who believed with him by a Mercy from Us. And As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) seized the wrong-doers, and they lay (dead) prostrate in their homes.

وَلَمَّا جَاءَ أَمْرُنَا

And when Our Commandment came,

نَجَّيْنَا شُعَيْبًا وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مَعَهُ

We saved Shu'aib and those who believed with him

بِرَحْمَةٍ مِّنَّا

by a Mercy from Us.

وَأَخَذَتِ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا الصَّيْحَةُ

And As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) seized the wrong-doers,

فَأَصْبَحُوا فِي دِيَارِهِمْ جَاثِمِينَ

and they lay (dead) prostrate in their homes.

وَلَمَّا

[11:95] As if they had never lived there! So away with Madyan (Midian)! As away with Thamud! (All these nations were destroyed).

كَأَن لَّمْ يَغْنَوْا فِيهَا ۗ

As if they had never lived there!

أَلَا بُعْدًا لِّمَدْيَنَ

So away with Madyan (Midian)!

كَمَا بَعِدَتْ ثَمُودُ

As away with Thamud!

[11:97] To Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and his chiefs, but they followed the command of Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and the command of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) was no right guide.

إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَئِهِ

To Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and his chiefs,

فَاتَّبَعُوا أَمْرَ فِرْعَوْنَ ۖ

but they followed the command of Fir'aun (Pharaoh),

وَمَا أَمْرُ فِرْعَوْنَ بِرَشِيدٍ

and the command of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) was no right guide.

[11:98] He will go ahead of his people on the Day of Resurrection, and will lead them into the Fire, and evil indeed is the place to which they are led.

يَقْدُمُ قَوْمَهُ

He will go ahead of his people

يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ

on the Day of Resurrection

فَأَوْرَدَهُمُ النَّارَ ۖ

and will lead them into the Fire

وَبِئْسَ الْوِرْدُ الْمَوْرُودُ

and evil indeed is the place to which they are led

[11:99] They were pursued by a curse in this (deceiving life of this world) and (so they will be pursued by a curse) on the Day of Resurrection. How bad is the curse (in this world) pursued by another curse (in the Hereafter).

وَأُتْبِعُوا فِي هَٰذِهِ

They were pursued in this (deceiving life of this world)

لَعْنَةً وَيَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ۚ

by a curse and (so they will be pursued by a curse) on the Day of Resurrection.

بِئْسَ الرِّفْدُ الْمَرْفُودُ

How bad is the curse (in this world) pursued by another curse (in the Hereafter).

وَأُتْبِعُوا

[11:100] These are some of the news of the (population of) towns which We relate unto you (O Muhammad SAW); of them, some are standing, and some have been (already) reaped.

ذَٰلِكَ مِنْ أَنبَاءِ الْقُرَىٰ

These are some of the news of the (population of) towns

نَقُصُّهُ عَلَيْكَ ۖ

وَمَا ظَلَمْنَاهُمْ وَلَٰكِن ظَلَمُوا أَنفُسَهُمْ ۖ فَمَا أَغْنَتْ عَنْهُمْ آلِهَتُهُمُ الَّتِي يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ مِن شَيْءٍ لَّمَّا جَاءَ أَمْرُ رَبِّكَ ۖ وَمَا زَادُوهُمْ غَيْرَ تَتْبِيبٍ ١٠١

[11:101] We wronged them not, but they wronged themselves. So their aliha (gods), other than Allah, whom they invoked, profited them naught when there came the Command of your Lord, nor did they add aught (to their lot) but destruction.

وَمَا ظَلَمْنَاهُمْ

We wronged them not,

وَلَٰكِن ظَلَمُوا أَنفُسَهُمْ ۖ

but they wronged themselves.

فَمَا أَغْنَتْ عَنْهُمْ آلِهَتُهُمُ الَّتِي يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ

So their aliha (gods), other than Allah, whom they invoked, profited them naught

مِن شَيْءٍ لَّمَّا جَاءَ أَمْرُ رَبِّكَ ۖ

when there came the Command of your Lord,

[11:102] Such is the Seizure of your Lord when He seizes the (population of) towns while they are doing wrong. Verily, His Seizure is painful, and severe.

وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَخْذُ رَبِّكَ

Such is the Seizure of your Lord

إِذَا أَخَذَ الْقُرَىٰ

when He seizes the (population of) towns

وَهِيَ ظَالِمَةٌ ۚ

while they are doing wrong.

إِنَّ أَخْذَهُ أَلِيمٌ شَدِيدٌ

Verily, His Seizure is painful, and severe.

وَكَذَٰلِكَ

[11:103] Indeed in that (there) is a sure lesson for those who fear the torment of the Hereafter. That is a Day whereon mankind will be gathered together, and that is a Day when all (the dwellers of the heavens and the earth) will be present.

إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ

Indeed in that

لَآيَةً لِّمَنْ خَافَ عَذَابَ الْآخِرَةِ ۚ

there is a sure lesson for those who fear the torment of the Hereafter.

ذَٰلِكَ يَوْمٌ مَّجْمُوعٌ لَّهُ النَّاسُ

That is a Day whereon mankind will be gathered together,

وَذَٰلِكَ يَوْمٌ مَّشْهُودٌ

and that is a Day when all (the dwellers of the heavens and the earth) will be present.

[11:105] On the Day when it comes, no person shall speak except by His (Allah's) Leave. Some among them will be wretched and (others) blessed.

يَوْمَ يَأْتِ

On the Day when it comes,

لَا تَكَلَّمُ نَفْسٌ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ ۚ

no person shall speak except by His (Allah's) Leave.

فَمِنْهُمْ شَقِيٌّ وَسَعِيدٌ

Some among them will be wretched and (others) blessed.

[11:106] As for those who are wretched, they will be in the Fire, sighing in a high and low tone.

فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ شَقُوا

As for those who are wretched,

فَفِي النَّارِ

they will be in the Fire,

لَهُمْ فِيهَا

sighing in it,

زَفِيرٌ وَشَهِيقٌ

in a high and low tone.

[11:107] They will dwell therein for all the time that the heavens and the earth endure, except as your Lord wills. Verily, your Lord is the doer of what He wills.

خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا

They will dwell therein

مَا دَامَتِ السَّمَاوَاتُ وَالْأَرْضُ

for all the time that the heavens and the earth endure

إِلَّا مَا شَاءَ رَبُّكَ ۚ

except as your Lord wills

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ فَعَّالٌ لِّمَا يُرِيدُ

Verily, your Lord is the doer of what He wills

خَالِدِينَ

[11:108] And those who are blessed, they will be in Paradise, abiding therein for all the time that the heavens and the earth endure, except as your Lord will, a gift without an end.

۞ وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ سُعِدُوا

And those who are blessed,

فَفِي الْجَنَّةِ

they will be in Paradise,

خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا

abiding therein

مَا دَامَتِ السَّمَاوَاتُ وَالْأَرْضُ

for all the time that the heavens and the earth endure,

إِلَّا مَا شَاءَ رَبُّكَ ۖ

except as your Lord will,

عَطَاءً غَيْرَ مَجْذُوذٍ

a gift without an end.

۞ وَأَمَّا

فَلَا تَكُ فِي مِرْيَةٍ مِّمَّا يَعْبُدُ هَٰؤُلَاءِ ۚ مَا يَعْبُدُونَ إِلَّا كَمَا يَعْبُدُ آبَاؤُهُم مِّن قَبْلُ ۚ وَإِنَّا لَمُوَفُّوهُمْ نَصِيبَهُمْ غَيْرَ مَنقُوصٍ ١٠٩

[11:109] So be not in doubt (O Muhammad SAW) as to what these (pagans and polytheists) men worship. They worship nothing but what their fathers worshipped before (them). And verily, We shall repay them in full their portion without diminution.

فَلَا تَكُ فِي مِرْيَةٍ

So be not in doubt

مِّمَّا يَعْبُدُ هَٰؤُلَاءِ ۚ

(O Muhammad SAW) as to what these (pagans and polytheists) men worship.

مَا يَعْبُدُونَ إِلَّا كَمَا يَعْبُدُ آبَاؤُهُم مِّن قَبْلُ ۚ

They worship nothing but what their fathers worshipped before (them).

وَإِنَّا لَمُوَفُّوهُمْ نَصِيبَهُمْ غَيْرَ مَنقُوصٍ

And verily, We shall repay them in full their portion without diminution.

فَلَا

وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا مُوسَى الْكِتَابَ فَاخْتُلِفَ فِيهِ ۚ وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَةٌ سَبَقَتْ مِن رَّبِّكَ لَقُضِيَ بَيْنَهُمْ ۚ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَفِي شَكٍّ مِّنْهُ مُرِيبٍ ١١٠

[11:110] Indeed, We gave the Book to Musa (Moses), but differences arose therein, and had it not been for a Word that had gone forth before from your Lord, the case would have been judged between them, and indeed they are in grave doubt concerning it (this Quran).

وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا مُوسَى الْكِتَابَ

Indeed, We gave the Book to Musa (Moses),

فَاخْتُلِفَ فِيهِ ۚ

but differences arose therein,

وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَةٌ سَبَقَتْ مِن رَّبِّكَ

and had it not been for a Word that had gone forth before from your Lord,

لَقُضِيَ بَيْنَهُمْ ۚ

the case would have been judged between them,

وَإِنَّهُمْ لَفِي شَكٍّ مِّنْهُ مُرِيبٍ

and indeed they are in grave doubt concerning it (this Quran).

[11:111] And verily, to each of them your Lord will repay their works in full. Surely, He is All-Aware of what they do.

وَإِنَّ كُلًّا

And verily, to each of them

لَّمَّا لَيُوَفِّيَنَّهُمْ رَبُّكَ أَعْمَالَهُمْ ۚ

your Lord will repay their works in full.

إِنَّهُ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌ

Surely, He is All-Aware of what they do.

وَإِنَّ

فَاسْتَقِمْ كَمَا أُمِرْتَ وَمَن تَابَ مَعَكَ وَلَا تَطْغَوْا ۚ إِنَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ ١١٢

[11:112] So stand (ask Allah to make) you (Muhammad SAW) firm and straight (on the religion of Islamic Monotheism) as you are commanded and those (your companions) who turn in repentance (unto Allah) with you, and transgress not (Allah's legal limits). Verily, He is All-Seer of what you do.

فَاسْتَقِمْ كَمَا أُمِرْتَ

So stand (ask Allah to make) you (Muhammad SAW) firm and straight (on the religion of Islamic Monotheism) as you are commanded

[11:113] And incline not toward those who do wrong, lest the Fire should touch you, and you have no protectors other than Allah, nor you would then be helped.

وَلَا تَرْكَنُوا إِلَى الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا

And incline not toward those who do wrong

فَتَمَسَّكُمُ النَّارُ

lest the Fire should touch you

وَمَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ مِنْ أَوْلِيَاءَ

and you have no protectors other than Allah

ثُمَّ لَا تُنصَرُونَ

nor you would then be helped

وَلَا

وَأَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ طَرَفَيِ النَّهَارِ وَزُلَفًا مِّنَ اللَّيْلِ ۚ إِنَّ الْحَسَنَاتِ يُذْهِبْنَ السَّيِّئَاتِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ذِكْرَىٰ لِلذَّاكِرِينَ ١١٤

[11:114] And perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), at the two ends of the day and in some hours of the night [i.e. the five compulsory Salat (prayers)]. Verily, the good deeds remove the evil deeds (i.e. small sins). That is a reminder (an advice) for the mindful (those who accept advice).

وَأَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ

And perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat),

طَرَفَيِ النَّهَارِ

at the two ends of the day

وَزُلَفًا مِّنَ اللَّيْلِ ۚ

and in some hours of the night [i.e. the five compulsory Salat (prayers)].

إِنَّ الْحَسَنَاتِ يُذْهِبْنَ السَّيِّئَاتِ ۚ

Verily, the good deeds remove the evil deeds (i.e. small sins).

ذَٰلِكَ ذِكْرَىٰ لِلذَّاكِرِينَ

That is a reminder (an advice) for the mindful (those who accept advice).

وَأَقِمِ

[11:115] And be patient; verily, Allah loses not the reward of the good-doers.

وَاصْبِرْ

فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ

لَا يُضِيعُ أَجْرَ

loses not the reward of

الْمُحْسِنِينَ

the good-doers.

فَلَوْلَا كَانَ مِنَ الْقُرُونِ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ أُولُو بَقِيَّةٍ يَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْفَسَادِ فِي الْأَرْضِ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا مِّمَّنْ أَنجَيْنَا مِنْهُمْ ۗ وَاتَّبَعَ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا مَا أُتْرِفُوا فِيهِ وَكَانُوا مُجْرِمِينَ ١١٦

[11:116] If only there had been among the generations before you, persons having wisdom, prohibiting (others) from Al-Fasad (disbelief, polytheism, and all kinds of crimes and sins) in the earth, except a few of those whom We saved from among them. Those who did wrong pursued the enjoyment of good things of (this worldly) life, and were Mujrimun (criminals, disbelievers in Allah, polytheists, sinners, etc.).

فَلَوْلَا كَانَ مِنَ الْقُرُونِ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ

If only there had been among the generations before you,

أُولُو بَقِيَّةٍ يَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْفَسَادِ فِي الْأَرْضِ

persons having wisdom, prohibiting (others) from Al-Fasad (disbelief, polytheism, and all kinds of crimes and sins) in the earth,

إِلَّا قَلِيلًا مِّمَّنْ أَنجَيْنَا مِنْهُمْ ۗ

except a few of those whom We saved from among them.

وَاتَّبَعَ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا مَا أُتْرِفُوا فِيهِ

Those who did wrong pursued the enjoyment of good things of (this worldly) life,

وَكَانُوا مُجْرِمِينَ

and were Mujrimun (criminals, disbelievers in Allah, polytheists, sinners, etc.).

فَلَوْلَا

[11:117] And your Lord would never destroy the towns wrongfully, while their people were right-doers.

وَمَا كَانَ رَبُّكَ

And your Lord would never

لِيُهْلِكَ الْقُرَىٰ

destroy the towns

بِظُلْمٍ

wrongfully

وَأَهْلُهَا مُصْلِحُونَ

while their people were right-doers

وَمَا

وَلَوْ شَاءَ رَبُّكَ لَجَعَلَ النَّاسَ أُمَّةً وَاحِدَةً ۖ وَلَا يَزَالُونَ مُخْتَلِفِينَ ١١٨

[11:118] And if your Lord had so willed, He could surely have made mankind one Ummah [nation or community (following one religion only i.e. Islam)], but they will not cease to disagree,

وَلَوْ شَاءَ رَبُّكَ

And if your Lord had so willed,

لَجَعَلَ النَّاسَ أُمَّةً وَاحِدَةً ۖ

He could surely have made mankind one Ummah [nation or community (following one religion only i.e. Islam)],

وَلَا يَزَالُونَ مُخْتَلِفِينَ

but they will not cease to disagree,

وَلَوْ

إِلَّا مَن رَّحِمَ رَبُّكَ ۚ وَلِذَٰلِكَ خَلَقَهُمْ ۗ وَتَمَّتْ كَلِمَةُ رَبِّكَ لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ ١١٩

[11:119] Except him on whom your Lord has bestowed His Mercy (the follower of truth - Islamic Monotheism) and for that did He create them. And the Word of your Lord has been fulfilled (i.e. His Saying): "Surely, I shall fill Hell with jinns and men all together."

إِلَّا مَن رَّحِمَ رَبُّكَ ۚ

Except him on whom your Lord has bestowed His Mercy

وَلِذَٰلِكَ خَلَقَهُمْ ۗ

and for that did He create them.

وَتَمَّتْ كَلِمَةُ رَبِّكَ

And the Word of your Lord has been fulfilled

لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ

Surely, I shall fill Hell with jinns and men all together.

إِلَّا

وَكُلًّا نَّقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ مِنْ أَنبَاءِ الرُّسُلِ مَا نُثَبِّتُ بِهِ فُؤَادَكَ ۚ وَجَاءَكَ فِي هَٰذِهِ الْحَقُّ وَمَوْعِظَةٌ وَذِكْرَىٰ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ١٢٠

[11:120] And all that We relate to you (O Muhammad SAW) of the news of the Messengers is in order that We may make strong and firm your heart thereby. And in this (chapter of the Quran) has come to you the truth, as well as an admonition and a reminder for the believers.

وَكُلًّا نَّقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ مِنْ أَنبَاءِ الرُّسُلِ

And all that We relate to you (O Muhammad SAW) of the news of the Messengers

مَا نُثَبِّتُ بِهِ فُؤَادَكَ ۚ

is in order that We may make strong and firm your heart thereby.

وَجَاءَكَ فِي هَٰذِهِ الْحَقُّ

And in this (chapter of the Quran) has come to you the truth,

وَمَوْعِظَةٌ وَذِكْرَىٰ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

as well as an admonition and a reminder for the believers.

[11:121] And say to those who do not believe: "Act according to your ability and way, We are acting (in our way).

وَقُل لِّلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ

And say to those who do not believe

اعْمَلُوا عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِكُمْ

Act according to your ability and way

إِنَّا عَامِلُونَ

We are acting (in our way)

وَقُل

لَا

يُؤْمِنُونَ

اعْمَلُوا

[11:122] And you wait! We (too) are waiting."

We (too) are waiting.

[11:123] And to Allah belongs the Ghaib (unseen) of the heavens and the earth, and to Him return all affairs (for decision). So worship Him (O Muhammad SAW) and put your trust in Him. And your Lord is not unaware of what you (people) do."

وَلِلَّهِ غَيْبُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ
