إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ أَنْ أَنذِرْ قَوْمَكَ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ ١

[71:1] Verily, We sent Nuh (Noah) to his people (Saying): "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful torment."

إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ

Verily, We sent Nuh (Noah) to his people

أَنْ أَنذِرْ قَوْمَكَ

Saying: 'Warn your people'

مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

before there comes to them a painful torment

[71:4] "He (Allah) will forgive you of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Verily, the term of Allah when it comes, cannot be delayed, if you but knew."

يَغْفِرْ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمْ

He (Allah) will forgive you of your sins

وَيُؤَخِّرْكُمْ إِلَىٰ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى ۚ

and respite you to an appointed term.

إِنَّ أَجَلَ اللَّهِ إِذَا جَاءَ

Verily, the term of Allah when it comes,

لَا يُؤَخَّرُ ۖ

cannot be delayed,

لَوْ كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ

if you but knew.

[71:7] "And verily! Every time I called unto them that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, and persisted (in their refusal), and magnified themselves in pride.

وَإِنِّي كُلَّمَا دَعَوْتُهُمْ

And verily! Every time I called unto them

لِتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ

that You might forgive them

جَعَلُوا أَصَابِعَهُمْ فِي آذَانِهِمْ

they thrust their fingers into their ears

وَاسْتَغْشَوْا ثِيَابَهُمْ

They have disobeyed me,

وَاتَّبَعُوا مَن لَّمْ يَزِدْهُ مَالُهُ وَوَلَدُهُ

and followed one whose wealth and children

إِلَّا خَسَارًا

give him no increase but only loss.

You shall not leave your gods,

And (O Allah): 'Grant no increase to the Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, and disbelievers, etc.) save error.

وَقَالَ نُوحٌ رَّبِّ لَا تَذَرْ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ دَيَّارًا ٢٦

[71:26] And Nuh (Noah) said: "My Lord! Leave not one of the disbelievers on the earth!

وَقَالَ نُوحٌ

And Nuh (Noah) said:

رَّبِّ

My Lord!

لَا تَذَرْ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ

Leave not one on the earth

مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ

of the disbelievers

دَيَّارًا

a dwelling.

[71:27] "If You leave them, they will mislead Your slaves, and they will beget none but wicked disbelievers."

إِنَّكَ إِن تَذَرْهُمْ

If You leave them

يُضِلُّوا عِبَادَكَ

they will mislead Your slaves

وَلَا يَلِدُوا إِلَّا فَاجِرًا كَفَّارًا

and they will beget none but wicked disbelievers

رَّبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِمَن دَخَلَ بَيْتِيَ مُؤْمِنًا وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ وَلَا تَزِدِ الظَّالِمِينَ إِلَّا تَبَارًا ٢٨

[71:28] "My Lord! Forgive me, and my parents, and him who enters my home as a believer, and all the believing men and women. And to the Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, and disbelievers, etc.) grant You no increase but destruction!"

رَّبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي

My Lord! Forgive me,

وَلِوَالِدَيَّ

and my parents,

وَلِمَن دَخَلَ بَيْتِيَ مُؤْمِنًا

and him who enters my home as a believer,

وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ

and all the believing men and women.

وَلَا تَزِدِ الظَّالِمِينَ إِلَّا تَبَارًا

And to the Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, and disbelievers, etc.) grant You no increase but destruction!
